New leak, maybe bell housing area, any thoughts?
2013 335i mSport. I noticed some spots in my driveway, took off the belly pan and found this. Looks to be around where the engine meets the transmission. The oil is dark brown, doesn't really have a strong smell or any smell at all. FWIW, my last oil change I used that green liqumoly, not sure how long it stays green or if it turns light brown like this oil leaking out. Thanks!

I’m dealing with the same/similar issue, see the pictures in a thread I did a while ago
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2083934 However, I have not found the source of the leak yet, I never have had visible dripping on the driveway or garage. Just an hour ago, I washed the underside of the car in that area and the splash pans and put a UV dye in my oil to try and trace where it’s coming from. In your pictures, I feel like I see a bit of seepage around your oil pan, which was not present on mine. I’ve also seen a few threads mention a rear main seal leak giving a similar leak pattern as well, hoping it’s not that. I had the Oil Pan done by the dealer prior to purchase in 2022 for mine for what it’s worth. I had just left it as it never caused a notable drop in oil level, but I’ve noticed a nasty burning smell in the cabin and around the car that started these last few weeks, so not sure if it was this leak or something else that started to let go, and that is what prompted this recent investigation. Also want to double check it’s oil and not ATF leaking. I’ll try and keep you updated if I find out anything for my lower leak, but I would check the oil pan a bit more closely as well, or at least clean up the area and see if the oily mess near the gasket is coming from the gasket or dripping down from the areas above the rubber grommets |

I use Liqui Moly Moly-Gen (Green stuff) every change and it seems to stay greenish for about until ~350-700 miles id say.

Oil pan leaking! It could very possible many leaking points. I had this on my two N55s. I recently sealed them as much as I could. However, there is still two areas I could not reach. Since I reduce the amount of leaking, I will driving it as it is to see how long it can last.

Thanks, this is a total bummer... I just had the entire cooling system replaced after I had oil in my coolant in hopes of making this car last until my son graduates high school. Got an appointment with my indy mechanic on Friday, I'll post an update when I know what's up.

Molygen has a component that shines green fluorescent under UV light. Should still work regardless of what color it looks like to the eye in regular light. Amazon sells inexpensive UV flashlights that are good for searching for oil leaks if the engine is using Molygen

Well, i got myself a UV flashlight and there's no fluorescence. Assuming that means it is transmission fluid. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

So he suggested doing the engine mounts as well, with the engine mounts and oil pan gasket he quoted me around $1400.
