Low fuel pressure codes

Over the last 6 months or so I had my 2016 328xi pop a drivetrain malfunction and go into limp mode about 5 or 6 times now. Each time it happened I've been driving for more than 1 or 2 hours (usually 100+ heat), and each time it happened - i would pull over, turn the car off and back on, and it would continue going as if nothing even happened.

I checked the codes a few times and each time it's the same one, P0087 low fuel pressure.

I've had a stage 1 bm3 tune installed for about 2 years/50k miles. I don't drive my car hard, mostly freeway driving with the occasional overtake.

From what I read it could be a faulty sensor in the LPFP and the entire pump needs to be replaced, but from what I've read, the car would just die and not start.

How can i diagnose this or what should be replaced?

Thanks in advance!
