Drivetrain Error on my 2013 328i!!
Okay so to begin with, a couple of days ago, I’ve been getting a ‘drivetrain malfunction’ error when starting my car (occasionally during my drive too), putting my car in limp mode — which did go away on restarting; however, that trick worked for a good two weeks, and now it’s there permanently.
I did get it checked, and here’s the following mechanic advises: 1) Replace electric wastegate actuator after scanning for codes (it showed something related to the wastegate actuator position). The mechanic revved the car multiple times to check if the actuator arm moved, but it remained shut. 2) replace entire turbo as the butterfly thingy for the wastegate may be lose and might not be closing properly. Honestly, I’m quite confused which route to take, since one’s about $250 and another’s close to $1100. Has anyone gone through something like this? I’d appreciate your inputs. 😅 Car: 2013 BMW 328i xDrive |
