Had a question and I'm too lazy to read the thread.
I have a 16 340i and I have noticed if the tpms light is on, the car will not allow you to be in sport/sport+ mode and car seems to be in a comfort mode. Is there a way around this? I plan on tracking the car and putting on wheels and tires without tpms, I'm assuming that without sensors it'll put car into similar mode? Last edited by Thisisdudewhoru; 05-12-2017 at 11:48 AM.. |

Not sure if you ever got an answer to your question but I'll take a stab at it. In my former 320, the light was on due to actual pressure loss and it wouldn't let me go into sport at all. I'm having an issue w/ my 340 now w/ new wheels and the shop put in new sensors but they're not reading. I have the light on but still able to use sport and sport plus. So my guess is if you do have a low or flat tire, you get locked out of sport/sport plus. But that doesn't happen if the car just isn't able to read the sensors.

So I should ask then for the F30, what is the compatibility like with these things? What year is compatible with what other years? Can an a sensor from a 18" stock be installed on a new 19in wheel?

Has anyone had any experience with Tire Rack TPMS sensors? They appear to be much cheaper @ $56 each than the OEM BMW parts.... BAVauto seeing for $100 each or 4/$356.
Cheers in advance! |

My car is a 1/2014 build, so I believe the correct kit to get is the Huf RDE017? At least that's what I was told by the vendor when I bought wheels from them 2 years ago. Just getting to throwing them on now...
My stockers definitely look lke the HUFs... valve stem 1 by theezv, on Flickr |

Reviving this thread based on my latest experience with installing new wheels & TPMS.
Turns out, the vin # read for TPMS is not reliable for 2014 models. The best way to check what TPMS you need is to stop by a tire shop (Americas Tire, Justtires) and have them scan your old TPMS for either a 2013 model or a 2015 model f30. If your old TPMS shows up on the 2013 scan, then you'll need HUF RDE017. If your old TPMS shows up on the 2015 scan, then you'll need HUF RDE027 or 36-10-6-881-890 (the Continental / VDO) Now I have to swap out my RDE027 for RDE017 and pay more $

Do they indicate low pressure? Is it just one or all four? Are they filled to spec psi when cold?

Might be a low battery in that sensor.

I recently filled both my fronts which were quite low at 1.9 (my spec is 2.2), to 2.2. I used a gas station digital pump. I press the 2.2 Bar on monitor and set it.
So when I reset the TPMS it shown 2.1 on both front tires. Hmm I was sure I set to 2.2. So I went back to the petrol station and re-checked, however the system on the pump monitor shows 2.2 on both tires.. I checked 2 times.. I reset the TPMS again and it is still 2.1 Now should I put the 2.3 on the gas station monitor and then it will maybe be 2.2? Or which system is correct in this case, I am quite baffled. |

Quick revival for a summary...
Quote:

My 2012, the tpms still work to this day (over 8 years now), but since i am going to replace my tires, i am going to replace them now before they run out of battery (if) I have the gen 1 on F30, the HUF RDE017 (36106798872 ). You have to replace the whole sensor... it's completely sealed. Quote:
1) the system at the pump could be out of calibration 2) your system could be out of calibration (although very doubful) 3) When you remove your plug, some air is released if you dont do it fast enough... that would explain the lower pressure compared to what you see before you remove it... Life man, just chill... for 0.1 psi... as long as all around they are the same you are fine... or you can just over shoot it to make sure the reading in the car is what you desire... You are assuming way too many things for your own good... Quote:
Lower temperature = lower pressure The systems is working perfectly fine. Tire pressure is a dynamic thing and changes all the time, that's why the need for TPMS... things dont remain constant |

I would also like to know this.. My car only has the tire pressure monitor and I would like to get the individual sensors but I am not sure if I have the module or which one to get (or if there is additional wiring necessary) I have a 2018 330i (LCI)
