Fuel level sensor problem after doing hpfp

I tried priming after replacing the hpfp and it wouldn't prime due to the tank being empty. The tank had at least 4 gallons in it. I did have a fault for left fuel level sensor and when I ran the test through ista it came back saying the wiring to it was reading -1 ohms. As far as I know ohms shouldn't read negative numbers. I was in the fuel tank at one point and had the low side fuel pump out is it possible the -1 is because I didn't plug it back in? Or is that more a sign of a bad resistor? I did also have the ecu box pulled out for the hpfp replacement.
