Wow square setups and still an issue.
I do love my car but am afraid of getting stuck when I have two little kids on board. I am sure we will be fine but it's just the hassle. I can't imagine what you went through mrgolf100 |

Could this end up being a major manufacturing defect that gets covered down the road?

There seems to be a fair amount of chatter on here! I've gone through 2 in 49K.

I asked my friend, a service advisor at a local BMW dealership, how common this failure is, and he wasn't even aware of it being common at all.

Im at 76k miles now. What serves should be looking into doing soon or now?
Has anyone MPG been going down? im in GA where theirs hills here and there and i drive at most 2-3 miles to work so mostly "city" driving. Have few hills up and down to work too. how ever since I got here to now its been going down it used to be 36 average now going to 32-33 average. im moving to San Antonio next month so hoping the terrain would change that. any input though? |

My 14' issues so far. Left front wheel bearing @ 28k, transfer case @ 44k, check engine light just came on @ 48k, and it's still making the mechanical rumble, directly related to speed. |

^My issue turned out to be a wheel bearing as well; at least for now. I do have that partial load whine still, but I need to replace my tires as well so I want to be sure it isn't them.

Stock everything and no spacers; bought the car CPO in February with ~35k miles.

I was at 67k before I traded mine in and all I had done to it were the brakes at 30k(covered under warranty) brake fluid flush at 60k and I was going to get it in to have the transmission fluid changed along with the antifreeze. Other than that it was just clean the air filter and fill the def up once.

Just hit 80K this week on my 2014 (8/2013 Build Date). No major issues (minus oil pan replacement of stripped thread). Only thing i have had to do was get a new NOx sensor back when it was still under warranty. Still satisfied so far!

I have 125,xxx on it now and i still haven't done the front brakes yet. I'm only on my second set of tires too so that tells you how much highway driving its getting. Anyway, i've had that $150 "service thing" that comes up on the dash twice, two fuel filters, 2 air filters, rear brakes (pads only), the horn, 3 transfer cases, 2 running lights, 2 brake flushes and 12 oil changes. That's it. I never did the transmission fluid which annoys me but now i'm scared to do it.

The transfer case seems odd to me as well and you can certainly find other examples but i can;t find anything that would suggest it's something that isn't just bad luck. Factory wheels, same tire brand and size as when i bought it. It's frustrating but they have fixed it for free every time so i'm a fan for now

I'm just about to break 100,000 miles. (160,840km).
The car is fine and pulls like it did when I first bought it with 28,000km I've recently changed the discs and pads, and tyres. One thing to note is there is a definite vibration going on which I think could be wheel related. I hit a mega pothole in the dark and I think I've distorted one of my front wheels. I'm going to check it this weekend with a DTI gauge and see where I go from there....

I passed 70000 miles and did a transmission fluid change just as a preventative measure. The old transmission filter had real tiny metal shavings that you can feel when you rub your fingers together. But the car gearshifts had no other changes when you drive that you feel except in sport mode with paddle shifters. Those changes seem much smoother now. |
