What alcohol do drink?
The amazing 19 crimes for me, their cheapest shiraz is the sweetest spot, started off with a couple of pints of Guinness and black.
Also very partial to a sour Mai Tai, that’s how my Friday evening started…… |

Malbec if at home, an IPA if in the pub, gin, vodka, whisky if that is what there is! Never cocktails, although looking at the margin losses attributed to cocktails in one hotel, maybe I should be!

Was doing dry January but decided early on that mildly damp was acceptable! |

Mostly Lager (Innes&Gunn / Menabrea / Heverlee is fave). Not a fan of spirits or wine
Just started to get back into Ale/IPA. Supermarkets do a good selection nowadays - Skye Gold is and even St Austell's has made it all the way up here finally - not as good as i remember from my Cornwall holiday.... Off to Lakes next week, so see what that brings! |

I'm going to be out on my own here.
I don't really drink. If I do it's a cider in the summer with a BBQ or at times a nice red wine. I just grew out of it in various fitness phases.

I used to drink a lot of red wine and draught beer, far too much. Periodically, I would panic and stop altogether for months on end. I was diagnosed with a chronic illness just over two years ago, although I’ve had it for a lot longer without realising why I was feeling so sh*t, which means that I can’t really tolerate alcohol and with some meds, its out of the question. The only exception is draught Guinness, which I LOVE, and which I drink and savour in small quantities. The 0.0% alcohol version is also remarkably good – the best low alcohol beer I’ve ever tasted (which isn’t difficult admittedly as most are truly cr*p). Its hard to find but I have found my supply and I aint tellin’ no one

Nada. Not a drop. Stopped drinking alcohol nearly three years ago.
For the first few months the psychology was "I'm stopping drinking" now it's simply "I don't want a drink". 99% of the time I don't miss it, and I feel far better for being 'dry'.

I’m quite partial to a good red wine myself, a decent Malbec or Rioja, though a good Douro is probably my favourite just now. Can’t drink a lot of red though as I get a bad hangover and a bit sweaty at night with it.
Don’t drink beer much, maybe if I’m out at the rugby but that’s about it. There are loads of really good ciders available though the tastiest ones tend to have a pretty high voltage. I’m pretty partial to a good blended whisky like Grouse long over loads of ice and with a splash of fresh lime juice - very refreshing in the summer but catastrophically easy to get through - half a bottle in an evening is a doddle. And of course a good malt whisky is a favourite - unfortunately the principle of “it’s open so I’d better finish it in case it goes off” applies…. Have to say I’m becoming more conscious of how much I drink as I get older. Norm for me is four or five days off Sun/Mon to Thurs, but I can easily get through the alcoholic equivalent of 2-3 bottles of wine over a weekend, more if we’re seeing friends. I don't really drink at home, only on special occasions. I use wine more in cooking than I do drinking it.
If out for a meal I'll have a Sancerre/Pouilly Fume or Malbec depending on what I'm eating. A night out with friends will involve Guinness or an ale. I tend to stay away from drinking disco piss lagers. Also craft beer can literally do one in my opinion. Then will come the whisky's, rums or brandy's to finish off the night. The inevitable 2 day hangover will then remind me why I don't normally drink. |
