Looks like they have a 30 micron, but not a 3 that will fit. I am not a diesel expert, but I wonder what the correct range is for quality diesel filtration. Probably up to 10 but need to do some research

I have an email in to Andrew at TuneMyEuro asking why they go with a 1 micron filter.

I wonder what the OEM filter is from a Micron setting.

Thanks for the website. There is a 5 micron version.

Ooooh I missed the 5 micron option. Nice catch.

Let me know what Andrew says. If I can get a 5 micron I might actually install the TME filter kit I have on the shelf.

How do you like the setup and how was the fitment? I have a similar mod done to my VW TDI with a 1 micron Catipilar filter. It's awesome and I highly recommend it.

If you don’t install it please DM me if you decide to sell it, I might be interested in buying it from you.

I have not put the filter on yet. I need to figure out how to get the double threaded adapter to stay in the actual housing so you can easily remove the filter. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do that?

Just for info.
If your HPFP goes replacing pump and injectors is not enough. Metal shavings will get everywhere.
At the very minimum you would also have to replace all of the sensors and regulators.
Usually we also clean fuel tank, replace fuel lines (hoses and such) and also fuel rail.
Its best to just to take everything from donor if its possible to save on costs.

Replaced the HPFP
Replaced all Injectors (cleaned seat and scoped pistons to visually inspect them also), and replaced Fuel pressure sensors.

Unltrasonic bath for the hard fuel lines and fuel rail.

Ran diesel through the fuel lines to clean them out.

Fuel tank looked like glitter was poured in it. Ran a magnet to get most of the shavings on the passenger side (can not access the driver side if tank). Cleaned up lift pump.

Deleted OE fuel filter.
Ran fuel lines and installed FASS fuel/water separation filter, XWS3002XL. (Best filter option in my opinion, rated at 2 micron absolute and a true water catch filter media.) Wrapped filter with magnets, insulated them with high temp silicone matting. To help catch metal shavings prior to them getting to the filter media.
Only used the fass filter and a filter mount.

Motor Oil changed out. (Maintenance)

Nearly 25k miles on this system. 5k oil changes. First oil change I swapped FASS fuel filter. Currently on 3rd FASS filter.

Checked low pressure feed was within spec innitially and periodically checked as well. (Used ISTA-D and BimmerLink) Installed a gauge prior to filter to verify lift pump was within spec and differential pressure of the two sides of filter.

I always carry an additional fuel filter incase it’s needed. Prime system correctly when swapping them.

Runs great, zero issues this far!

Glad we finally got the update! Thanks for keeping us looped in. Curious what FASS system you used. They are huge in my experience on trucks, wondering where you mounted?

How did you clean the injectors? Find anything when you scoped the pistons? Curious if you cut open your fass filters to see what they caught after the initial filter change?

FASS filter is all that I used with an off the wall filter head. After running the filter with no issues I am designing a custom filter head assembly that will fit within the engine compartment for easy service.

Replaced injectors. Scoping pistons I didn’t see anything abnormal. I never cut open the filter but I plan to do it and see how much metal is left after all this time.
