Because it was produced by M, for the same values of "produced" that the other M cars of that time had.

No radical cam timings (not the likes of the other m engines anyway), no dual overhead camshafts, no ITB's, not even 4 valves per cylinder for a 90's engine. It's just a very simple engine with outdated technology when it came to market (1992). And that in an age when the standard bmw i6 engines that came to market in that same year got variable valve timing. But I guess I'm just more of a guy that rather looks inside engines to see what they actually do than studies VIN codes and motorcodes. And if you look inside that engine...you'd see it's nothing special technology wise. It's big and it's a V12. And that is where it ends. And my guess is that's the reason it was never called the M8. If BMW actually had made a production M8, my guess for sure is it would've gotten a far far more modern engine. Especially more modern heads. Just like the other engines from BMW 'M in the 80s (and 90s), like for instance the M88 and S38. Those were basically M30 engines but with a more advanced DOHC head, radical camtiming and ITB's. They easily could've done the same trick with the S70B56, but my guess is that BMW found that too expensive, hence the antiquated engine, limited performance (for such a big engine) and no M8 badge. But my guess is just as good as anyones guess why BMW didn't call it an M8. I'm sure they had their reasons as they for sure did research the possibility. They didn't forget or something like that. It was an active decision to not name it the M8.

As for the one off hyper M8, pics, vids and articles of that car have been making rounds in the internet for over a decade. It gained popularity when BMW M released pictures of their secret garage in which they house hundreds of cars and many of their projects such as the M3Ti and e46 M3 Touring, and V12 powered X5. As I’ve stated, your denial of this being an m car and earlier claim of it being a track car are both inaccurate. |

Watched this video and the one off video over the weekend again. Man oh man do I miss the glory days of BMW. They sure had an amazing run of cars between the early 80s and late 2000s. I remember walking into dealers wanting one of everything. I still love BMW, but it's not quite the same.

He should NOT be reviewing cars. I can't take him for more than a few minutes before I get disgusted. His antics are too child-like for me and it takes away from any useful info he attempts to provide. He was meant for the "PRINT" world. He shouldn't be seen or heard.

I really like Jason’s reviews. They’re informative, funny and he breaks the monotony with those little interludes. He sort of reminds me of an American Chris Harris. Also, who goes around calling people fruity on a public forum? Come on — we’re better than that, right?!

I think youre accurately describing what i thought watching it. I like when he calmly talks, but I dont think being a clown here suits.

I can't take you seriously when I'm reading everything you write in Cammisa's fake German accent. Also doesn't help that you're corny af. Did you really think you made an impactful statement up there? LOL. I rolled my eyes so hard, my iris touched my frontal lobe.
