Video Playback on iDrive

Hi Guys,

I am curious about what Video formats are supported on iDrive .

Mine is a base 328i. Is Video playback only for higher variants ?

I tried playing a DVD and it said "Unreadable". Is there any format which i can copy to USB and play ?

Thanks,
A.S

Try setting your parking brake? Not sure if BMWs require that.

Put DVd in while parked with handbrake. I believe only NBT will play dvd or video through usb.

I tried with handbrake as well..it didnt work so no DVD /Video

The BMW connected app also doesn't work when i connect through USB ..i miss so much of cool features just have a good engine

I hate myself for taking a brand new 328i base variant . Should have gone for a used fully loaded used car.

So playback on my system worked today m. But only some dvds seem to work. Not all. Is it something to do with regional coding?

Thanks

mine plays DivX at least as well as other file formats. I did do this via coding though.

HU_NBT - Section 3000
SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MAX/MIN - nicht_aktiv (and werte=FF but I didn't need that)
VIDEO_FRONT_LOCKED - nicht_aktiv
VIDEO_HANDBRAKE - nicht_aktiv
VIDEO_SPEEDLOCK_CONDITION - none
ENT_MC_VIDEO_SUPPORT - aktiv
ENT_CODEC_XVID - aktivrdc_sa
ENT_CODEC_XVCD - aktiv
ENT_VIDEO_HMI - aktiv

I can test some other file formats if you like.

The DVD player is definitely region coded. To unlock you have to code.

DVD (digital versatile disc) region codes are a digital rights management technique designed to allow rights holders to control the international distribution of a DVD release, including its content, release date, and price, all according to the appropriate region. This is achieved by way of region-locked DVD players, which will play back only DVDs encoded to their region (plus those without any region code). The American DVD Copy Control Association also requires that DVD player manufacturers incorporate the regional-playback control (RPC) system. However, region-free DVD players, which ignore region coding, are also commercially available, and many DVD players can be modified to be region-free, allowing playback of all discs. DVDs may use one code, multiple codes (multi-region), or all codes (region free). (Wikipedia)
