Installed a pocket underneath the climate control!

I wanted somewhere to put my keys or something when I get into the car, so I installed it.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Enjoy!

Good find! I'm interested in trying this.

How large of a waterbottle/fast food cup can you still fit in there?

From his video, I don't think either will fit. His watch barely fit.

Interesting mod thanks for posting. Cool that it fits like an OEM part. Kinda wish they'd make something like this as a dedicated phone mount.

I think he was talking about the cup holder lol

Because it does block the above height a little bit. So maybe like a super size bottle won't fit anymore.

If I can still fit one of my sport bottles (standard bicycling bottle size), I'll probably get this and try to put some type of phone mount that can clip onto the wall of the new pocket. It'd be nice to be able to put two phones mounted there (at the track I use one for datalogging/extra instruments readout and another for lap timing).

Put a rather common brand of sparkling water and the cap is pretty much right up against the silver trim.

Interesting but my 30oz rambler barely fits there now. This would take up too much space for me. Nice video though.

Thanks, couldn't see it in the video description.

Reason being I watched it straight from your post instead of youtube.

Ahh gotcha. No worries! It's quite a simple process and I was surprised that the fit was so good.

I ended up getting this too. One thing I noticed is that it only has a clip on the back side for the cup holder LED module, it doesn't have a clip for the connector too (like the OEM piece). I ended up putting some felt tape on the back side and taping that connector down so it would be secured and not potentially rattle.

Regular water bottles fit fine. Sport bottles can be pushed into the cup holder till they wedge against the pocket. Doesn't go all the way down, but stays secure.

I'm also playing around with how to mount a phone mount on there. The mounts that clip onto the air vents will clip onto the lip of the pocket too (and have quite a good grasp), but the ball joint on those don't really let you get a good upright angle on the phone. I ordered some ball-joint couplers and should have a workable solution soon.

Great post, FaRKle!... Now that you've had it installed for a week or so, what items have you been actually putting in the tray? (developed any habits with it yet?)
Thx!

I regularly keep my keys in there (previously used the cupholder for them). I used to also keep my second/work phone in the cupholder, but adding the pocket has given me more real estate to mount a second phone mount so that goes on there now.

Little things, like when I take screws/bolts/washers to the hardware store to get extras, pens, SD card readers, also get stored in the pocket. I'm very happy with it.
