BM3 Stage 2 93 vs. Stage 2 E30 Question

Hi everyone -

So I've been recently testing out these two maps to try and determine the power difference between them. I consistently get more torque from the 93 OTS map than I do from the E30 map. Timings are better on the E30 obviously. Has anyone experienced this?

I think you are looking at the peak numbers listed on the VD graph which are not accurate. The 500+wtq number is the small red square where the curve goes off the graph on the left then back down. The curves show the opposite, and are consistent with the difference in power the maps should deliver.

The peak numbers appear the be right at tip-in and are not "real". I suggest trimming your logs (or using the slider in VD) to start them both at 3000rpm.

Yep you are right, when I trim the logs to 3000 RPM I get 459lbft on 93 and 489lbft on E30. Thanks for that bud! I'm going to go through this tank of E30 and flash back to 93, then add about 15 ounces of BOOSTANE. I'd like to get some logs of that setup. Do you have any experience with it?

My experience with different hardware and tunes and using VD is here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1710794

I don't have access to 93 so i never ran anything besides 91 and E20 maps on MHD.

I know a few people on here have ran boostane on either 93/95 maps or even all the way up to the race gas map with some success. I am on the E20 map running E30 and dont really ever plan to go back to a pump gas map, so don't have a need for it really. I did buy a bottle a few months ago because i was considering adding a bit in my E30 tank to hopefully get perfect timing when doing top speed runs (177 mph so far ), but never added it.

I did experiment with it on my 3000gt. I added 8oz to about 8 gallons of E85 (twice). I was in the processing of re-turning from 50/50 e85 mix to 100% E85 so i wanted maximum octane possible for safety. I haven't pulled plugs or anything since (expect them to be orange) then but i noticed no side effects or anything.

Interesting. Maybe I'll add 8oz to a full tank of E30 and do some logs to compare. Do you think that would cause any adverse issues?

You should be fine, some people run way more (like a entire 32oz can to a tank) to boost octane. 8oz to ~15 gallons is pretty diluted, i would check their mix chart to see how much octane that actually adds. The only thing i know for sure is it turns everything orange - plugs, exhaust, etc. Its supposedly safe for O2s and cat. I would only add it to E30 if you are trying to get perfect timing or something.

I really wish it wasn't, lol… I have to drive almost 10 miles to get to the closest gas station that has E85.

I'm lucky, less than half a mile for me.
