Car showing info211056 recall on BMW website

Prompted by an old workmates 17 plate 3 series combusting and killing itself over the weekend he popped up a link to the BMW site to warn others to check.

https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quic...e-recalls.html

My 2016 car has previously not been in scope for the EGR recall as it just missed the build cutoff but I popped my VIN in the checker above with his being a 17 plate.

It replied back that there was a now an open technical enhancement and to book in for service under Enhancement code INFO211056.

Ive phoned today to try and book it in but have been told its not a recall and that I should only book in if experiencing symptoms of the EGR fault. Im not sure if those symptoms involve smoke coming from under the bonnet but has anyone else had this and done anything further?

With it being the family load lugger I dont really want it turning into a BBQ with our 3 kids in the back (if and when we ever get to drive out to a family holiday this year).

Manual or Auto? Do you see an hesitation in shift or lack of throttle response?

Mine is showing this as well.
I’ve had new egr cooler about 6 months before the original recall. I’ve also subsequently had the recall check at a previous service. My dealer are saying exactly what you’ve been told as well.

Just searched on autotrader for the newest listed F30 330; found a 19 plate car at main dealer, then plumbed into the same link. Same results showing “enhancements with the codes”

I just went on the BMW recall website & its showing the following for my late Oct 2015 F31 320D xdrive.

Car has been serviced by BMW and has never left the dealership network for anything.

It has had a previous EGR recall.

Tried this on mine, and got the same response, a recall is in place.. How odd.

Will we have to wait for the lockdown to be over then?

I just called HJ Chester and their "official BMW system" is showing there's no recall for my vehicle...

This is what the website says:
There is an open technical enhancement on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle selecting "service as required" or contact your local retailer here for more information. Enhancement code: INFO211056

I suppose a "technical enhancement" isn't a recall. I'm really curious what it is now.

I had the same from HJ Chester. They didnt tell me what the symptoms were that I should be looking out for.

Searching google for INFO211056 brings this up at the top which is quite an interesting read on what they do during the EGR test and fix in the US

So, just been on the phone to both BMW UK and Listers of Boston (my nearest open BMW dealer) and it's shed some light on the situation. INFO0211056 automatically goes onto the car as proof the EGR was replaced in case any warranty work needs doing on it as my car is out of BMW warranty being 7 years old. It doesn't require any work doing to it other than if there are any problems with the car that weren't before (over heating, hesistant throttle etc). The other fault codes I have relate to (in corresponding order to my earlier post and have already been done when the car went in for the EGR work): replacement of water drain grommets in passenger side of car, check and/or replace the EGR radiator and check and/or replace EGR Cooler.
I hope this has helped some of you - if you have any codes that I didn't have then it may be worth a call to your local dealer to find out what they relate to.

Exactly what I was told. No reason to book in unless any faults appear

Interesting, my X6 M has an open recall for the ISOFIX mounts, a VIN search returns this:

There is an open safety related recall on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle, or contact your local retailer here for more information. Recall code: 0052920200

Incidentally, when I first used this recall site, I got the data back for my old 640d (as I initially searched by my reg number as opposed to the VIN):

There is an open safety related recall on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle, or contact your local retailer here for more information. Recall code: 0011970400

There is an open technical enhancement on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle selecting "service as required" or contact your local retailer here for more information. Enhancement codes: 0064880100, 0013880200, INFO211056, 0011420500

My wife's 320d returns the following (which has already had the initial EGR recall too):

There is an open safety related recall on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle, or contact your local retailer here for more information. Recall code: 0011830400

There is an open technical enhancement on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle selecting "service as required" or contact your local retailer here for more information. Enhancement codes: INFO011056, 0011100500, 0011150400, 0011450400

So it looks like there may well be an ongoing EGR issue!

My car wasn't included in the EGR recall, so has not been replaced. yet has INF00211056.

Or am I reading your info wrong?
