mot/service recommendation? in Cannock/Bristol

Hi it's my first year of owning a bmw 320d 2013 model and the mot is due in December.

I just want to know if anyone has any good recommendation to get an MOT and servicing done in the Bristol or Cannock area.

I'm quiet new to these area so I would highly appreciate some recommendations.

The car has only done 58k and I'm not too bothered about the service and mot history being stored on the system as I will be keeping this car for a very long time.

If you have any other advice wether its owning the car/servicing/pricing/common problems/mot etc etc please let me know

Thanks in advance,

Welcome👍

If you are looking for main dealer then Sytner Tamworth is a short hop down the A5 from Cannock. They are ok, nothing outstanding but local if you need main dealer.

Can’t comment for Bristol sorry

Thanks in advance,
For Bristol I've used two indys on my old E 61.
Clayton cars in Bedminster. My experience, very good but a bit pricey.
The other is Mill Lane Automative. Perhaps less slick operation but cheaper. They tried really hard to source me a second had reconned headlamp after mine got goosed from a pressure washer at a hand car wash lesson learned there! New each unit was over 2k

They found one for under £800. Can remember what the technical name is but they were the units that turn in turn with the steering.

Neither are bad choices and cheaper than main dealers.

Thanks will probably give them a ring or check the website to see what kind of prices they have, ideally was looking for a local or bmw specialist in these areas so i can just keep using the same garage for future work/mot/servicing.

Thank you,

thank you will check them out, glad they manage to get it sorted. Very rare for garage nice enough to find you cheaper part than asking you to pay for a brand new

The Mini Cooper S that I recently purchased had a comprehensive history of visits to Mill Lane Automotive in Bristol.

Not been to them myself but from the receipts and how well my MCS had been looked after I'd say they are a good bet. I also get the impression that they actually work on fault finding as opposed to just replacing parts.

Just used for an MOT in bristol - Bath Street garage in Staple Hill. Would use them for servicing if I wanted a non-main dealer option, as they seem a really great little operation.

Last time I was there in September, there was an immaculate '60 Cadillac Eldorado in there that the owner has entrusted them to rebuild fully. Always a variety of modern cars in there, a really clean workshop, so I would say that they know their onions.

Used BMW Bath for the last 10 years and never had any issues, if you want main dealer I would suggest them.

Also have a mate who runs a small garage, not a specialist, so no computer service record updates, but does decent work at a decent price, used him on our older for as long as I can remember, drop me an IM if you want his number.

You can check the prices here, I didn’t find them crazy (c200 Merc was £600 for the major, that was true daylight robbery!)

If looking at Main stealers I'd avoid Dick Lovatt in Bristol up by Cribbs. I've used the one in Bath and they are much more organised. Though I do live that side of Bristol so it's about the same distance for me.
I had a service done at Bristol and they'd double booked my courtesy car.
I had to wait for their shuttle bus to work and missed a meeting. I was pissed off. Though for transparency they did knock £30 off the 250 bill.

A good Indy is Pritchards Motor Services in Gloucester for servicing etc. They also have a full Hunter Alignment system that mine has been on. Very knowledgeable and reasonable for that type of work.

I travel up from Bristol to them after they were recommended on here.
