Did you figure this out? I noticed mine do this, too. Not sure if its new or old.. only noticed because aquapel causes major stuttering along the glass.

I am not sure if my problem is similar but I get this annoying speed change when driving in the rain. I set to intermittent and the rain sensor kicks in and the blades are on overdrive and sweeping over the side of the screen. Very noisy too. I ended having to pull the stalk manually to wipe. When I got my bimmercode installed and started coding I managed to set the rain sensor to off. Now it doesn't act crazy when it's raining. Maybe you could try that.

I've skimmed, but didn't see anyone suggest to try tightening them up...maybe they did?
It looks to me like maybe they've slipped a notch on the ferrule. Not sure how to pop the cover off to get to the nut underneath, but it's there somewhere. Also, as mentioned, a clean windshield helps a lot. My final cleaning is usually with just a mist of water and microfiber towel...no treatment at all.
