Thanks Mick going to give it a go on the weekend. Did you use an adapter cable or BMW harness. Did you have to do any coding?

Thanks again!!

I used the harness below.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-F32-F...sAAOSw8ttc-USX

I didn't connect the indicator wires directly into the REM, instead I posi tapped onto the existing outer indicator wires using connectors from amazon.

Left indicator: black & white striped wire running into the far right plug on the REM module
Right indicator - grey & black striped wire running in the left plug on the REM module (not middle)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Connectors-...39833323&psc=1

All I needed to code was all rear lamps to LED from Bulb. Very simple with the bimmercode app.

I did this mod on my F36 this weekend. What a PIA nightmare! Mick is right, you need to drop part of the headliner in order to get to a connector and a large plastic harness router clipped into the roof. This was the most challenging part for me. I would not want to go through it again for sure

I have attached some pics of the wiring I am talking about.

Thanks in advance.

You will need LCI wire harnes from Dealers which will have all plugs etc with it so you can remove these wires with plugs .

You will need coding for taillights to work , outside lights are plug and play
Hi mate, do I need both of these Harness looms to retrofit LCI taillights on my bmw 420 gran coupe?

You need a harness for each light cluster.

I bought the same ones, they come as a pair.

The OEM LCI harness is plug and play with the LCI lights.

Make sure you buy the correct OEM harness -F32, F33, F36 etc as they will be different cable lengths.

Can the Lci lights be coded with the bimmercode app on my phone?

I've got some lights coming soon & I have ordered this....

Do I need to order anything else?

Yes you can code lights with BimmerCode app .

Not sure about this harness I bought OEM one .

Outside lights easy to fit and no need coding but taillights a lot of work involved removing tailgate trims etc and wire loom

When you removing look take pics of each connectors so you know wheee to plug new loom , it’s fiddly but take your time and it’s doable

I found coding I used on my F36 using BimmerCode but please if you haven’t done coding first then get someone else to do for £50 which is safer but if you can then even better

That's brilliant! Thank you for posting that information. That will really help me & I'm sure others out when it's coding time.

I've coded quite a lot myself on my old E60 & my F36 using the Bimmercode & carly apps so I should be alright, especially now with the info you have given above.

Okay so I gave this a go on my Saturday off today.

I got everything installed/wired up.

Followed all of the coding to the T (thanks to UKF30)

And I can't get nothing out of both inners, no lights at all, dead.

I checked everything again & again, it all seems correct, but still nothing.

The outers work, but not the inners. There are no errors or warnings in the idrive.

I would appreciate it if anybody can help me out, I don't mind paying or taking it to somebody that knows how to get the inners working. This has me beat & I don't know what to do next.

This is how I've spliced into the wires

However, maybe splicing into these wires will work for me?

Can somebody tell me the colour of the wire I need to tap into? I have tapped into the black & grey wire on the left plug & black & white wire in the right plug.

What coding did you change?

When splicing onto the existing outer indicator wires all you should code is bulb type to LED.

I followed all of the coding that UKF30 posted. All bulbs are set to led. It must be the way they are wired in or the harness is duff.

I have just sent fortythirtyfive a PM.

You didn't fit the full LCI harness so there was no need to code all them changes....

I did not know that. So if I bought an OEM harness, it should work?

I think I have a duff harness. The seller sent me one with a short wire first time around, even though I messaged him that I had an F36 so I sent that back & he sent me this harness.
