Looks interesting but not sure I want a Quantum Dot (Samsung) TV
Or a 4 year contract either. https://www.sky.com/glass |

Interesting. I was just thinking about NOT getting a dish at the new house. This fits the bill nicely. We're also getting FTTL and looking at a new TV.
No doubt the TV is so / so. I need to do some reading! The bar across the bottom is a little annoying maybe. Need to see one. Quite like retro white!

Prefer the TV signal to come via satellite. We don't have ultrafast broadband available and so it would just be something else competing for bandwith.
Also, TV technology improving all the time and I doubt Sky will be continually updating it. I can see it's appeal though to some who want a self-contained package. |

I know one of the people behind the Marketing push of this at Sky. Honestly, its very slick. I have seen it with my own eyes and was surprised at how 'premium' it all felt. The sound bar included is actually very decent and I think for those with strong broadband this makes much more sense than a dish.
However, I am also a stickler for feeling like I get a deal and therefore buy TVs 1 or 2 years from current to get myself into better tech without paying eyewatering cash. So I'm not sure this fulfils that spot for me. It's neat though and no doubt moves the game on again vs. the 'others' |

A TV that's only useful if you have a Sky subscription, think I'll give that a miss. It only takes Sky to cock something up or raise their already silly prices making you want to move to Virgin or BT and you have to ditch the whole TV.

the issues I would have
1) No satellite or DAB back up with broadband down 2) Personally I still prefer recording on a PVR like Sky Q vi series link what I want to watch. I only tend to watch Sport and news live. Going to my recordings listing is easier than looking afresh to stream something. Can it be set up to stream certain programs regularly? 3) How does to fit with an AV reviewer and quality Hifi speaker system 4) Is this the end of their PVR satellite box structure and the development thereof i.e. SKY Q? |

The SPAF (Spouse/Partner Acceptance Factor) would for me require a hard drive so the wife can record and watch her shows.
If the only way to watch these would be via the iPlayer/ITV Hub apps then this is a no (from her). I have my own reasons for it being a no. |

Built a wee cabinet to hold the sky box router cables etc to make things cable free and wallpapered over it. I don't have a sky dish subscription at present but have a now tv sports and movies subscription and prime Netflix Disney+ and Spotify and 3 yr old Samsung 65 in. The idea is not to be tied in to a long subscription. Btw spotted a costco deal on a 75 |
