suspension shafted - what should I do?

Hi all,
Have lurked on here a long time soaking up the vast knowledge so thank you all for that.

First post is in slightly dire circumstances. 2016 335D x drive touring with adaptive suspension

I hit a pothole hard on the brakes at the weekend, tyre popped and something happened to the front passenger suspension - car dropped down so it was effectively sat on the wheel and dragging on the front of the ground.

Took it into the local Indie who have told me the front suspension on the left side is basically toast, CV joint sheered, shock snapped off at the mount etc... etc and about £3.5k of damage using OEM parts.

Given the issues and suspension upgrades suggested on here, I am tempted to use this as an opportunity to upgrade BUT - I live on a farm, up a rutty track, surrounded by some of the worst roads in the South. Bumpy, strewn with mud and cow/sheep poo etc... so i dont want harder suspension or a lowered car in any way.

Is there an upgrade that doesnt do either of these? Any other advice?

FaRKle! does both track days and takes it out on dirt and gravel roads with his suspension. Searching his posts would be a great start for the info you're looking for.

A long shot, but I'd get some evidence of the state of the road / pothole and check the Councils online reporting system to see if it's been reported already. With damage like that I'd imagine it must be a monster hole, if they have had it reported and not dealt with it, it will strengthen your position.

Yeah, Bizarrely it wasnt actually that big a pot hole. I think just because I hit it fully on the brakes with suspension compressed... It was , unfortunately more of a track than a road... :-(

Find a rear hit wreck and buy the right corner and swap in your garage?

Or claim single vehicle accident with your insurance?

Thanks guys - I have decided just to replace OEM - otherwise it gets too complicated with the insurers

That would be my recommendation as well. At least with OEM suspension, the height will be maintained at a level that you are comfortable with.
