I had stage 3 and went for stage 2 instead.
Thought stage 3 was a bit too rough in my dd 435dx

I've tried all 3 stage maps, in sequence.
Go straight to Stage 3. Comfort is still smooth but far more responsive. Sport and Sport+ really help to bring the performance alive, and you can code "Soft Shifts in Sport" if you want to retain an OEM-like shift quality.

Went straight to stage 3 after tuning my trans, so while I can't comment on what stage two is like, I can say I've rarely had a situation where I've thought about maybe trying it out. Any rough shifts or anything are about as common as they were before the tune.

Thanks for the info chaps! So its just a generic flash then? Not one that is custom to the car?
So no need for my tuner to set it up? Im in redcar mate |

Go for Stage 3.
But my advice is get your own OBD WiFi connector and download/purchase xHP yourself. It's very easy, possibly cheaper if not the same price, and allows you to change it or return to stock anytime you like. Stage 1/2/3 is a pre-developed generic map for your car. You can make adjustments to things like upshift points, throttle blips etc if you like, but my advice is go for Stage 3 first and then see how it is for a week or two before making tweaks. You may be happy enough as it is.

I have not done xhp yet will in next few weeks. I believe it’s the same connections as bm3 so I use a
Obd2 to enet cable and lightning to enet adaptor for iPhone. Was about 25 quid for both off amazon. Someone else maybe able to Confirm |

Download "xHP Flashtool" on your phone. Get an adapter, I used MHD Black. https://bimmer-connect.com/products/bg-mhdfg Buy the flash licence and map packs on the website or app. Plug in the adapter and run diagnostics before installing the flash. Keep the ignition on and drivers seatbelt plugged in. Keep window open if it's warm!! Took about 3 minutes on mine although it says up to 10 mins. There's a few How To videos on YouTube for xHP too

I used the apple lightning to Ethernet cable to connect to OBD Ethernet cable. Was a struggle getting the right sequence, but it worked and flashed in 2 minutes. |

Wireless/WiFi is easier, but wired might be more reliable.

If you got it from BimmerConnect, it was less than a week from ordering to opening.
