Upgrade oem rear camera

Are there any plug and play options to upgrade oem f30 camera? I recently installed an aftermarket camera in an f30 with the andream unit and the quality of the picture is better than my oem camera. Not sure if aftermarket camera would be a plug and play solution though

What aftermarket camera did you get that is better than the oem?

Different voltage and picture system can be among the challenges.

I am not the original poster, but the OEM camera has issues at night especially with Alpine White vehicles and an aftermarket option might fix the issue if it were plug n play.

I installed a rear view camera from avinusa and it's so much better. Not sure if it's plug and play with oem system though Might take car apart and check

The issue, documented here dozens of times, is that the camera sees the white bumper, which is lit by the license plate lights, and adjusts it's brightness according to that, and not to anything further away. The simple cure is a bit of electrical tape over the bottom of the camera lens, so it won't see the bumper.

I believe you can also code out the number plate lights when in reverse.

I haven't looked into that, my car is Midnight Blue, but even if true a bit of tape will do if you don't have Bimmercode. The flip side is that I can see my bumper at the bottom of the screen in the daylight, but not to the extent that I'm bothered by it.
