you can buy the license within the XDelete app after you make a successful connect to your car (probably to ensure compatibility before your buy the license) if I remember right after you do that the option to purchase a license should be presented to you or found in the menu by taping the 3 lines in the top left corner. alternatively you can choose to purchase from their site https://www.xdelete.app and have a voucher code and instructions emailed to you

Can anyone confirm x-delete has added HP to their car?

There will still be extra xDrive related transmission losses. Components are still there, weight, having to be driven, churning looses in the diff and transfer box.

Interesting to see some figures, you'd need to be running/rolling all four wheels to get any true figures. Not sure how you do that. We know acceleration times could be meaningless, as there is enough debate on sDrive vs. xDrive anyway, how each has an impact on the times.

I've only seen one youtube video where they back to back dyno on an AWD dyno and then a RWD dyno with x-delete enabled. The difference was about 25hp greater on the RWD dyno.

The only true comparison test to see if there is any power/acceleration benefit would be for someone to get Dragy 100-200 (60-130) results back to back in identical conditions one with xdrive and one with xdelete.

Xdelete claims 30whp gains, that would be good for around 0.5sec in 100-200. If nobody can prove gains with actual street verified results then I think it's BS as far as claimed gains, but.... still might be worth the $200 to get improved steering feel, turn-in response and better fuel economy.

So what's happening to the front wheels during the RWD test? Figures mean very little if the front transmission is static. The drivetrain losses those components contribute once rolling, (they are not 'invisible' with a delete) must be calculated and subtracted, to get net gains.

I agree, I didn't mean to imply that this was a definitive result... But how else do you measure wheel horsepower than a dyno?

I understand where you are coming from. We are used to dyno figures. But as a standalone figure from xDelete, it doesn't tell the whole picture. Does make for a good headline.

Garage List
I flashed yesterday. Definitely like a whole new car. I forgot what it was like to lose traction when stepping on it in 2nd gear. I was laughing like a little kid with a bag of treats

Just flashed today and OH MY launch control is sooo different. Even with my 275's I'm spinning, before it would hook every time. It's a lot of fun though and I think i'll leave it in RWD until the first snow storm hits, want to enjoy the added fuel economy.

Interested in reading what the real fuel savings will be. You continue to have the extra xDrive weight and are still accelerating all the additional rotating components (with their associated losses), compared with a straight RWD model. Even steady state losses will be very similar.

I take it you're hesitant to try to it due to potential mechanical issues?

I'm not running xDrive, interested as an 'outsider' and as an engineer.

I'm feeling some are thinking there are HP gains, better economy, as if the drivetrain is running as a RWD model. I'm also not too sure about longevity, as I've already briefly posted on this thread. Does xDelete simply translate to the same disconnection/function of the M5? The transfer box is not the same design as the M5, with its switchable drive.

As an engineer I know what is referenced, isn't the complete story. The dyno test and the gains in HP calculated by the run down cycle, excludes the front end of the drivetrain, which also accelerate and run down in real world driving. The figures can't be left out for calculating real world gains. Dyno figures in isolation can be misleading.

I'm simply following with interest.

I flashed xDelete today - my traction control kept kicking in while in sport - how do I turn that off or is it only possible in sport+?

It is a bit more fun around turns - and a bit more fun accelerating - and nice to have the option - but not as big of a deal as I expected - given the lack of low end torque - plus traction control being active in sport mode meant no burnouts I think.
Hold down the traction control button for few seconds

Alright so I guess sport+ is the only way to be in sport and have traction control off (on my model) - I think the sport suspension goes away (I know that topic had been covered at nauseam) but most importantly to burnout all I had to do was be in sport+ and now it's worth every bit of $150 (so long as it doesn't mess up my car as our engineer friend has pointed out)... I definitely feel a boost in power as well - no question - I need a charge pipe lol. Total blast though - does make the car feel more aggressive and overall sportier!

Not sure what you mean about the suspension.
If (and only if) you have Adaptive suspension, it goes into sport mode when you go into Sport or Sport+.
You can (no coding needed, iDrive setting available) disable it switching in Sport to have it in its comfort setting. Not in Sport+ however, it is always set to sport there.

When You turn off traction control You have everything (susp., steering, exhaust, motor) in sport mode.

Not in all model builds. Most models the throttle map returns to normal.

My 5-series, even the suspension returns to normal setting with DSC off.
