Automatic Transmission Flare

Hey everyone, I've noticed every now and then my ZF8 has a flare where the tack raises just before shifting. I'm not sure if I hit the gas while the shift was taking place and it happened by accident but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.

Never experienced this. 50k miles or more you could change the ATF OR at least check for leaks.

How much raise are you talking about? The only thing somewhat similar is the rpm raise/hang for a split second on the notorious 1-2 'lurch' first cold shift that happens sometimes.

Also, are you XHP tuned and has that made any difference on the occurrence?

I'm completely stock at 35000 miles. I'm thinking about calling the dealer. I'm also still under warranty. It happens when the car shifts from like 6 to 7 I think, but has only done it 3 or 4 times.

If its a very rare and hard to reproduce problem, i recommend getting a video or other documentation of the problem before going in. Otherwise, they might make you pay a diagnostic fee and find nothing.

The transmission in my opinion and I told the woman on the phone does not shift well gears 1-3 and on deceleration it's quite jarring. Maybe its just be you never know.

Transmission needed a software update.

I figured that might be the case, when I first bought my F30 my transmission didn't shift well in those gears either. Dealer did a software upgrade and it was fixed.

The gears are much smoother.

Consider XHP for further enhancements
