ARM Motorsports midpipe 440i
Hey guys and gals.
Long shot but has anyone installed one of these on an f36 chassis? I had it in writing that this pipe fits the f36 440i (gran coupe) but I raised the car tonight and the section of pipe that fits between the chassis bracing and the chassis looks tight. I see even bmw squishes/ pancakes the pipework at that point to fit through the gap. I'd love to get feedback before i remove the stock exhaust or start cutting my muffler inlet. Midpipe itself looks really well made |

It's listed as fitting and the tech support confirmed over email but I'm trying to avoid getting balls deep into it only to find out it was an error.

midpipe hitting the mid section bracing is a common issue due to little clearance, this even happens on dealer installed mppsk exhausts. at the end of the day this midpipe is no different than dinan, awe, which many others have installed on their 4GC. the pipe diameter is the same it just gets rid of the resonators so why do you think it won’t fit? every exhaust product is made universal for both F30, F32, and F36.
if you do decide to fit it yourself and have issues, rotating the pipe left and right should help with creating clearance.

What was weird is that my muffler inlet is a long section of pipe and all illustrations show a short piece entering the muffler with a clam. Mine does not have that clamp |

Interesting. I'll have a look for it. That's gonna help a lot. Didn't see it last night when I looked.

Pipe is on. As said the joints can be rotated and manipulated to get things to clear.
On 4 inch ramps I'd rather be kicked in the nuts 1000 times than do that on my back again. Definitely going to take it to a shop to tweak and get the tips right but all in all a very nice kit. |

Took the car to a shop today and they messed with it for a good 45 minutes to get it to clear everything.
No contact now and it's running great. Being on a lift is really necessary unless you get lucky. Hopefully these pics will help f36 owners as it shows the bracing and how the midpipe or exhaust needs to snake through. Reset my cf tail pipes.as home and we are good to go |
