Enhanced Bluetooth Audio coding using BimmerCode
Hello everyone,
I am new on this forum so i post this under wrong section, i apologize. So here's the problem: I bought a 2013 BMW 328i xdrive. It came with Navigation and all the features but it only has Bluetooth phone (only calls, no audio). So i decided to code it and see if i can enable Enhanced Bluetooth audio in it. I bought a VGATE wifi obd2 scanner and Bimmercode app ($60) for both. I cant seem to figure out how to do it. I coded everything else such as digital speedometer in the cluster and comfort access and all that. but i cant seem to figure out how to enable bluetooth audio. Ive read other threads where people talk about changing 6NH to 6NS blah blah blah.. i cant understand that. when i connect my car with bimmer code. it says i have headunit CIC or smthng. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO HELP ME OUT HERE? Last edited by gurpzz; 08-19-2017 at 06:19 PM.. |

Someone on the board has coded enhanced BT. I believe his car was a 2014 though. I can't find the link but did copy the following as I am intending to do the same:

I have Bluetooth audio for my iPhone so I guess I have enhanced Bluetooth but I no longer get SMS notifications which I had in both of my previous cars (2011 X3 & 2015 428). Do people think that this coding would unlock those SMS notifications?

I myself have used BimmerCode to successfully code a couple of things on my vehicle. I was planning on doing Enhanced Bluetooth until I discovered how it is accomplished. I really don't want to go that route but I just want to know whether or not this coding method has worked for either of you? |

I only just learned to FDL code last week but before that I VO coded the enhanced Bluetooth. it was easy and I didn't perceive any great risk.
Well worth the research effort to get SMS

I’ve just used Bestia’s list, and have got EBT working perfectly on my 2014 320d Touring using BimmerCode. However, if you’re new to the process here are some tips that I wish I’d had starting out:
1. Once you’ve linked your device to the OBD widget, tap on the ‘Headunit’ option. 2. Then tap on ‘Audio_Tuner...’ to check the first two lines of Bestia’s code list. Much of the time the settings will already be correct, but you need to check each one. 3. Then check the two ‘Exbox 3001...’ lines, and carry on. 4. There are two recommended changes to Bestia’s list! The HU_NBT > HMI 3000 > SYSTEM_TTS should be ‘aktiv’, as should CE_DEVICE_SPEECH_RECOGNITION otherwise you lose the voice button on the steering wheel! 5. When you reach the TELEFON TELEMATIK ONLINE 3003 section, there are many lines to check, and annoyingly they are not in order (which would make it much, much simpler). If someone has the patience to rearrange them they would get huge kudos. Until then, you just have to scroll up and down each time... 6. When you’ve finished, go back a page until you’re given the ‘Code’ option on the top right. Click on that. The engine may cut out and restart after it’s finished, but that’s fine. The head unit will reboot, too. 7. You may be expecting EBT to work now. It didn’t for me! I had to delete my phone from the iDrive system AND delete the car’s Bluetooth profile from my phone. Re-pairing the phone to the iDrive did the trick. Now I have BT audio, as well as photos in Contacts on the car screen (there may be other benefits as well). Hi guys, so I went through all of the steps listed above and was not able to get bluetooth to work properly. There were some items in Bestia's list that were not in my F32's bimmercode. That being said, I went ahead with every other option I could, switching it to the necessary position. After I pressed "Code", I did get these new bluetooth options. When I go to the Bluetooth box to check it, nothing happens. Any suggestions? I have deleted and re-paired my phone as well.

Update on my previous pictures: I coded a backup on my Bimmercode to erase all progress made towards the enhanced bluetooth through Bimmercode, downloaded E-sys and completed it through there. Success! Changed 6NH to 6NL.

I'd use E-Sys to do this kind of coding. You are going to want to change the vehicle options and code the car as if it shipped with enhance BT. Much easier and free!

EBT working?
I tried (Bestia) these steps as well with Bimmercode app. Moderate success. I can now stream music from my iPhone through audio system where before I could only use the phone for calls. However, I do not see any album artwork nor do I have any real access to the control function I would expect. (playlists etc are nowhere to found) I can skip one song forward and one back but that is about it. Does anyone out there have an idea as to what I might have done incorrectly?

I may be mistaken here but cars with production dates OLDER than 04/2014 don't always work with 6NS. For these cars 6NH is usually non-enhanced bluetooth and they need either 6NL or 6NK VO coded in along with the HU_CIC and CMB_MEDIA modules.
6NK and 6NL are the same but 6NL adds BMW Assist which is a subscription by BMW.

I have the same issue. Want to code enhanced bluetooth on my G01 (2018 X3). Have reach out to tokenmaster several times (to get esys working) without a response. Was hoping to use bimmercode. Is this doable? Can someone help with the steps?

I'm on the same boat. Just wanted to see if I could use bimmercode to enable the Bluetooth music streaming. Has anyone managed to do it?
