Replacement battery in Canada
So recently checked the charge capacity on my battery (I used bimmer link but there are other ways). My battery was down to 67% charge capacity. Reading online I saw that like a phone you should probably start thinking about replacement after it drops below 80%. My battery was the original and was manufactured in January 2015 (look at the negative terminal for day/year of build). I looked around and there are really only two options (but at a range of price points).
Before you start this job, read this post here: https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/d...-info.1325595/ Really helpful post and all true. So in Canada (or at least Ontario) we can get the East Penn battery from a couple of different places as well as a rebranded Banner battery option (the original battery in my car was Banner). The banner battery option is sold through Canadian Tire and Part Source (different labels) and is made in Austria. $280. Comes with a 5 year replacement warranty. https://www.partsource.ca/products/m...6826&_ss=r https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...p.html?loc=plp The East Penn battery is sold through BMW and Napa at $370(ish), and Napa also sells the same battery (same manufacturer part number 9A49) for $536. https://www.napacanada.com/en/p/RNB4...pressionRank=1 https://www.napacanada.com/en/p/NAB4...pressionRank=4 I went to PartSource as they were close and had it in stock. Install took about 20 minutes (lots of videos on youtube). Car seems to run more smoothly (but that might be in my mind). I used the app to recode the car in about 30sec. New battery shows 99% charge capacity. Hope this helps any fellow Canucks! |

Can someone reply with how to remove the vertical panel over the battery? I have the two push pin fasteners out, but I don't want to break it.
I have searched and not found anything helpful on the GT for this panel. |

Thanks
Good tip on the Canadian Tire Battery. I had looked at that listing and was considering it, short of other options. Will check it out and see if my new Autel scan tool can actually do the programing.
