Finally got around to learning and doing some FDL coding on the car. Adding the M Performance logo to the dash and digital speed, ///M startup to the idrive (would prefer M Performance, but not an option), getting the TPMS sensors to display pressure and temperature, and turning that damn seatbelt chime off for the passenger seat. More to do, but it was the first set.

Nice! No idea psi was available for the display. What's the learning curve like to do that sort of thing? Thanks in advance

Not too bad really. 20.00 for a cable to connect the laptop to the OBDII port, download the software and data files, install, and start "playing"

You can google the .pdf of the "beginners guide to fdl coding" and look over the process and although it's a few years old and a couple of things have changed, this video from TokenMaster pretty much shows the process.

Also look in the DIY section of the forum for others and what they've done / found to code or post questions.

I swapped out the kidney grills for the CF ones from RW Carbon on Friday evening.

Just in time for the local Ferrari dealership's 2016 Toy Run that we did on Saturday. It was a drop off the toys event at the dealership that go to a local children's charity . .

then off on a 115 mile drive through the curvy back roads north of the city with around 80 cars participating.

While we did it I decided to mount the GoPro and get some more exhaust video of the Borla ATAK. Still loving that sound.

Hey CWIS thanks for making this thread. I just picked up a CPO 2014 335i, M-sport manual and have been looking for warranty friendly mods for my car. Recently ordered the Dinantronics Sport+. I was concerned about aftermarket exhaust, intake and charge pipe voiding the warranty but looks like that is not the case. What other warranty friends mods are you considering?

The safest things are anything from BMW themselves as that would be covered without question.(MPPK, MPE, M Performance parts) After that, technically, anything else would not because it would be aftermarket. But as in the case of Dinan, most of their products come with warranty coverage through the period of the original factory warranty of 4 yr 50K miles. The Sport+ doesn't, but I think it's pretty obvious as to why if it only cost 299.00. That wouldn't even cover the cost of a charge pipe being replaced which is a weak spot in the design.

That said there's another factor to consider and that is your dealership(s). Some are more mod friendly than others and this is really an important consideration overall. I would recommend checking with your service advisors and find out how they feel about installing certain mods. If they happen to be a Dinan authorized dealer, all the better because they are already selling and installing items that technically are "aftermarket" The simple fact is if a dealership is willing to sell you the mod and/or install something for you they are taking some responsibility for it being on the car and if something goes wrong around anything they have sold you or installed on the car that dealership has a degree of ownership. Certainly the dealerships service is not cheap, but again if they touch it they have some responsibility for it and can't just shoo you away if something goes wrong around them. My local dealership is a Dinan authorized dealer and I got the Sport + from them and paid them to install it. (40.00) As I found out early on they are also an authorized Borla dealer through their race team, so once again the exhaust was purchased through them and installed by them.

At this point I'm not sure which direction I'm going to go yet. I'm pretty happy with the MPPK and the Sport+ and how the car is running. But power is intoxicating. However my next few months is wintertime so mods may wait, besides looks like my dentist is the next "dealership" that I'm going to be paying for mods. . .

Hey man thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm planning on keeping it pretty much stock other than the Dinantronics Sport+ (I like that it's so easy to uninstall) and the exhaust mod. I'm not too impressed with the performance gains on the MPPK for the price. If I had the older DME and could do the remote flash for $89 I'd do it, but not for $1600. I may play around with some coding but other then that just gonna rock it until my warranty is up then target 450+ HP.

Finally got the video sent to me from the 1/2 mile event I attended last month that I had the videographer there produce of the car and a few of it's runs. Turned out pretty good I think, the car looks clean.

Went ahead and had the oil and filter changed today since it was about 6K miles since the last and I have run the 1/2 mile event and the Ferrari toy run/drive in that 6K. 15,100 miles on the odo and it's the 3rd oil/filter change the car has had.

Also it's a little outside BMW, but for some "extra credit" here's a video I did for a friend and the Kline exhaust he installed on his Audi R8. It has a great sound.

Forgot to add this pic of the other item the dealership had the car for yesterday, a tire swap. On Tuesday driving home a car in the other lane kicked over this object I believe was a fair sized rock that my front left tire ran over. When I got home I found it had sliced into the sidewall.

It was not leaking air (soap check) when I inspected it, but you could pull that flap back and see the belt. Since it wasn't leaking I used some clear silicone adhesive to fill in the gap and taped it shut to sit overnight as I had a 120 mile trip to one of my facilities the next day. Tire did fine there and back and for the next few days before it got swapped. But nothing I would want to leave on the car as I considered it
compromised even though it wasn't "punctured"

Edit - Look what just arrived in time for Christmas,

Number mods.

Have not posted in a while. The 335 has been basically trouble free for the last 5 years and continued to run great. However I decided to go ahead and trade the car in yesterday despite it having been a great ownership experience. All mods and add-ons went with it.

I'll be leaving the F30 world now and moving over to the ///M side of the forums. I purchased a 2020 X4M Competition yesterday.

Here's a final pic for this thread of the 335i and X4M side by side.
