With MHD flash what do you monitor?

I have a 2014 435i on MHD stage 2+. I was just curious what does everyone monitor live while driving?

i will edit the title of the thread. im not talking about what you monitor for data logs, im asking what different people monitor live while driving in which that thread is useless to the question asked.

I usually monitor boost, intake temp, coolant temp, and oil temp. I have others on the screen, but most are too dynamic to serve much purpose as a gauge. It would be nice to have an indication for knock detection, but again it is very dynamic. You could theoretically log all of the cylinders ignition timing and look for retardation, but that would be pretty difficult while driving.

Thank you for your reply. I monitor:
Boost
coolant temp
oil temp
oil pressure
throttle position
fuel rail pressure
boost target
gear
Im just trying to get a sense of what others monitor.

You dont need to monitor anything. Keep your eyes on the road - please.

Just out of curiosity - why do you want to monitor?

So I can see a problem approaching before it gets bad. I don't want to rely on a sensor alert to happen by that time its usually a worse problem than if i could see it coming.

My phone is on a window mount that sits between my dash cluster and my nav screen so its in eyeline so i can still watch the road. I also have the mhd adapter linked to my phone with a private IP address so i can still use cellular service to use maps, texts, or calls.

The DME has all those safeties built in because humans cannot react fast enough, but have fun. Also looks cool with all those gauges - the more the better

Personally I only use oil temp (when is the oil hot enough for WOT) and STFT (is WMI working correctly). And only during logging sessions.

Great - we all started from scratch. In terms of engine damage prevention I would show IAT and oil temp then. Dont go WOT if oil temp is too low or if IAT is very high as this will increase the risk of knock - but again - the DME has already got this figured out with timing tabels to compensate for high IAT... So really you dont need to monitor anything

Here's my monitoring from top to bottom, left to right:

Boost mani - Boost target
IAT - Throttle position
Rail pres mean - Rail pres Req
Trans temp - coolant temp

There's no reason to put oil temp because its on the dash, and if its below 160 its too cold anyways. You also don't need gear because XHP shows that on the center display. These gauges are more for making sure you (1) dont have boost leaks and (2) didn't overshoot ethanol content. Sort of like debugging gauges. Pair relevant gauges next to eachother - if you cant see boost and target at the same time its kindof pointless.

If i am driving hard canyons/AutoX, move IAT, trans temp, and coolant temp up toward the top (or whatever is easiest to see) and swap boost target with oil pressure.

I don't think my car shows what gear I'm in. I will replace the boost target to something else thank you for that.

You need XHP flash to show gear in D. However, all 8ATs should show gear in S and M.
