This Turbosmart VR9... Why would I spend money on it if I already have the DV+? Turbosmart is writing reward bla bla bla, but reward for what? The sound? What does it actually do? Impressive so little information on a product they want people to buy as an upgrade.
johnung What is it your butt dyno is feeling? Looking at this 3-4-5 pull boost is where it need to be so.... (no need to comment on the post shift overboost, this is normal for PWG)

"johnung What is it your butt dyno is feeling?" It appears like you are asking me a question but I don't understand? I don't know what "writing reward" means? Below is a link to the manufacturer website if you are looking for more information on their products. https://www.turbosmart.com/product/b...dual-port-vr9/ |

FTP came out with version 2 of the inlet pipe that is bigger. And its still $100 cheaper than the pure.

The key point is that the constriction point of the stock plastic turbo inlet is removed so there is a potential for more airflow into the turbo. The size of the intake port on the turbo is the same.

I am debating between the ftp version 2 or the pure turbo. I dont plan to upgrade to ps2 anytime soon if at all. Cant beat the price of ftp.

Yeah, it's tough with a new product until enough people have tried it to verify quality and fitment. I was impressed with the Pure Turbos Inlet Pipe for quality and fitment. The installation isn't simple so I tend to be risk adverse and spend more money on parts if the labor will be costly if I have a problem.

"The size of the intake port on the turbo is the same." The size of the intake port on ALL N55 stock turbochargers is the same as are the outer diameter of all pipes, stock and aftermarket that plug into it. Maybe the inside diameters of various inlet pipes are slightly different. But that's inconsequential compared to removing the constriction point of the stock inlet pipe which is not right at the pipe opening. See my previously posted photo. Attached is the photo of the stock plastic inlet opening vs the opening of the Pure Turbos Inlet Pipe. The key part of the photo is not obvious. The outer edges of the two pipes don't matter as much as the constriction point further inside the stock pipe. The edge of it can just barely be seen inside the shadow inside the pipe on the left. I wish that I had taken the photo with a flash then it would be obvious. |

i think he's(johnung) is talking about the diameter of the hole(on the engine side)in front of the impeller, not the inner diameter of the various pipes in the comparison pics.

MAF is supposed to correlate with horsepower. I haven't run across anyone yet who has quantified it with a dyno. Our hypothesis is that the folks are wrong who are telling us that the stock turbo is maxed out so that adding more potential intake air will not increase horsepower. The fact that eliminating the restriction in the inlet pipe increased the MAF shows that more horsepower was to be had out of the stock turbo. |

Were you able to get an inside diameter measurement on the stock inlet pipe several inches inside the opening where the constriction is? Please see photo. I have it somewhere...if I remember correctly maybe around 1.29"? |
