Registering BMW connected drive

So i have my new BMW 330e arriving in a couple of weeks and i have a question about the Connected Drive app.
I'm probably going to sound a little dim here but if you only need the VIN number to register your vehicle with connected drive what is to stop anyone wandering past my vehicle, logging on to the connected drive app and registering my vehicle to their phone by entering the VIN which is on the front windscreen, and then being able to open my vehicle etc?
Im guessing BMW have covered this but I'm intrigued to know how?

bmw send you a code to your idrive computer that you need to put into app to allow it to connect
