FTP Intake and Charge Pipe

Just wondering if anyone has used either of these parts

https://www.ftpmotorsport.com.tw/pro...-intake-pipe-1

https://www.ftpmotorsport.com.tw/pro...0t-charge-pipe

Thinking about getting the intake pipe and using a BMS Billet Intake with it. I know the charge pipe on the b58 is stout but would replacing it give any additional power or response?

I read a review from one guy, on this forum I think, that claimed it helped the turbo spool faster. Not sure if that's true or not. It made me start thinking about purchasing a nice charge pipe as well, but most people advocate against it as a useless mod or very difficult to install. I'd love to learn more though because I'm interested as well.

The intake pipe looks interesting. Eliminates the turbo inlet pipe and the silencer. Curious to know how the fitment would be with the oem crankcase hoses connected to the actual pipe.

Pretty much changed the throttle response time in my X3 M40i. Downshifts happens a bit quicker, maybe by 25% quicker.

I haven't installed the intake pipe yet. I'll do that soon for sure.

How hard was it to install the charge pipe? Any other benefits?

The work is 1.6 shop hours on paper. Cost me $165 to instal.

No other noticeable benefits.

How would you rate the quality of the pipe? Did the shop have any fitment issues? Would you say its worth it for the price?

Perfect fit, no issues at all.

It's a bit tight in the X3 M40i up in front of the motor though. Had to take the whole metal plate off that holds the fan and radiator in place.

I would install it as one piece, connect the bottom pipe to the turbo first, then line up to your throttle body, tighten these screws, then tighten down the middle hose clamps all the way. You're done.

I did Turbo -> IC Pipe and Charge Pipe (intercooler to throttle body) on my N20, and loved the additional throttle response. Now that I've stepped up to B58, I would love some hard plumbing as well (no more plastic stuff), however with the B58, the charge pipe isn't necessary like it was with people blowing them on the N55. I do have the BMS intake as well.

Price looks decent too, I'd be down to give it a try if there is a decent install guide to go with it.

I really like the idea of changing the charge pipe and getting something tangible from it like additional throttle response, but I just purchased a stage 2 tune from MP and asked Alex directly about the charge pipe of the B58 and he said he's taken the stock turbo up to it's limit of 24psi with no problems whatsoever. He even said he had the stock intake up to 32psi for testing purposes and there were no failures or cracks.

Yeap - I've heard very similar things...maybe I'll take the plunge and report back on throttle response. Wonder how I could back this up with some data.

I'm wishing I would have done a log before and after. :

Ya, I was thinking a log, but what would I even log? I'd be using JB4. We think the turbo could spool quicker, into boost faster? I feel like there are other variables that could add a lot of noise to what we are after from a data perspective.

Trust me, not trying to get bogged down in data, but want to make it beneficial for the community.

I'm all about backing stuff up, this was something different I did with Meth, would like to try and do something similar.

Alex knows his stuff but he only took it to the limit for a short period. Failures usually come over extended time period. With that said there haven't been any failures that I have seen and I think the charge pipe is a waste to replace it as a preventive or precautionary measure to make sure it doesnt blow. Now with some reporting better throttle response that's a different story and may be worth looking into. I have decided to check it out and see if my MP stage 2.5 / Stage 1 trans tune can get any better. It's already very very good

I added these to my 2016 F25 with N20. At the same time I added a GoFastBits DV+....turbo lag is gone.

Before install of these pieces I already had a JB tuner active.

OK - Just ordered both of them. I'm going to tackle the install relatively soon (once they arrive) and I'll be able to definitely give some hard feedback on if they do anything whatsoever. If not, they'll just look good - ha.

Will definitely be looking forward to your results and may pull the trigger based on your reviews of both items.

Thanks! Very interested in any increase in induction/turbo sound you may get with the intake pipe.

Did you ever get a answer or find out if this worked? Want to add FTP intake pipe with the BMS billet intake as well and replace oem charge pipe with the FTP charge pipe.
