What's the latest on this?
I have a 2017 330e M sport and I filled the washer fluid with teh BMW mix added 2 parts water (from a kitchen filter, supposed to be good) - 2 weeks later I see 'low washer level' (added 3L!) took it to the dealer they charged me and tried to tell me I wasn't doing it right... I followed the instructions... here in the UK it's not so hot although I dont' mind just adding the whole undiluted screenwash, it's not so expensive... Thoughts are welcome - thank you |

I have never had a problem with mucky screenwash tanks , had a few blocked jets in 43 years of car driving , I have never ever watered screenwash down with anything .and always stuck to the same brand mainly .
bloody stuffs cheap as chips anyway . why water down weak cleaning fluids anyway . |

I only ever use undiluted concerntrated screenwash. Had an E87 for 10 years. Even though it was a common problem for the rear jet to clog up, I never had an issue. |

It could be that the congealing and blocking of the washer pump has happened over time rather than suddenly. |

I am new to the forum, I have a 2012 f30, I have the same washer issue with bad flow. When inspecting I pulled the hose from the plastic part from nozzle. It has an orange rubber seal inside but I can't seem to get it to seal again. It just leaks.. Has anyone had any success. I new nozzle chain will be £103. |

You really do not want to drink the water on an airplane. Just saying. Those tanks can have an inch thick of growth. It wouldn't surprise me for that to grow in the washer fluid bottle too. You should also NEVER use plain water as it can be a breeding ground for legionella, the bacteria that causes Legionnaires' disease. 20% of cases in the UK are from cars using water without screenwash.

one of my screenwash jets became clogged soon after a windscreen replacement. I wondered if some adhesive had clogged the hole. In any case in a few months it unclogged itself? after a car wash. It was a 3GT which I don't own anymore.

It's not just BMWs. I spent a fun hour or so clearing the same issue on my wife's C43. Little filter that the pump nozzle sits into the tank via gets blocked with "snot". Annoying as I've only ever used decent Wurth stuff in it and the same type since we had it (2 years).
Similar access issues, wheel off, arch liner out, pull out the pump and filter, clean them up. While open I flushed the tank as best I could with hot water and more of the stringy gunk came out. |

Seems lots of people have used Milton sterilising fluid to clean the tank and saved a lot of work.
