N55 PWG Hesitation/ Stutter under acceleration - BM3 stage 1 93

Hey guys I have a 2013 F30 N55 PWG with bootmod3 stage 1 93 and when cruising with everything in comfort there’s a hesitation/stutter and an occasional grinding sound. I spoke with bootmod3 and they suggested to change the ignition coils and spark plugs I change them and gapped the NGK spark plugs to .022 but still the problem persists. Above 3k RPM the car runs smooth. Additionally I have xDelete and when turned on at low rpm driving is wayy worse the sound is much louder. Below are the logs, appreciate anyone’s help

AWD:

RWD:
https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=6121...729b0ac793cda7

As far as mods I have VRSF chargepipe and Downpipe.

Flashed it to stock and it drove normal, PTF sent me a test map which lowers the boost and torque at lower RPM, I'll update this thread once I put it on.

Grinding sounds is not good obviously, and no idea why they would tell you to do plugs and coils in response to that. Are you auto or manual?

Remove the bm3 trans flash, that in itself is known to cause some strange behavior and issues. If you want a trans flash get XHP, but wait until your issues are solved.

Sounds like the same issue I'm having, car stutters on moderate throttle and I heard a metallic grinding noise. Getting my transfercase replaced as we speak and I hope that solves my issue.

Why does BM3 highly recommend it for tuned cars then?

Because it probably raises torque limits, but theres other things that BM3 "recommends" like the NGK colder plugs with a smaller gap that are also not needed. XHP is a far superior trans tune if you want one.

Oh I see, I did replace the spark plugs with the NGK and gapped them to .22 and it does seem smoother, however with the GTS start up it doesn't seem as smooth when first starting it up

Alright, so here's my update. Looks like I replaced my transfer case for no reason and It was my sparkplugs this whole time. I was running the OE Bosch plugs and just switched the NGK 95706. There's no more hesitation and the problem seems to be gone. Fingers crossed it stays like that.

How does that relate to the metallic grinding noise you described?

That noise happened when the car stuttered and the car hasn't been stuttering ever since I changed the plugs.

Didnt you say in the OP you already changed coils and plugs? Do you think you had a damaged plug or a bad batch of the counterfeit NGKs?

In the OP you said " I spoke with bootmod3 and they suggested to change the ignition coils and spark plugs I change them and gapped the NGK spark plugs to .022 but still the problem persists. "

Just trying to understand what you had before since Bosch plugs at stock gap should be totally fine for your application. How many miles were on the Bosch? If they were recently changed were they from a reputable vendor?

Glad the NGKs solved your problem; your car might be one of the few that "needs" the NGKs.

I'm having a similar issue.. I'm running BM3 Stage 2, 93 Octane, no issues. Ended up changing my spark plugs to the recommended one-step colder, NGK's, and all of a sudden, now I'm getting vibration/stutters under heavy acceleration. Definitely misfires, but I'm not seeing any codes whatsoever. So, hard to determine which specific cylinder to look at.

Not sure what the issue is or if anyone can relate. I'm thinking it's possibly:
1. Bad plugs (even though they're brand new)
2. Overtorqued or undertorqued the plugs
3. Bad coils (hard to imagine this, since everything was working fine prior)

I'm going to remove the plugs and place them back in and retorque to spec (prior to, I just hand tightened and maybe another quarter-turn). If that doesn't work, I'm going to throw in the old plugs.

Assuming you didnt mess up a coil or something when doing the job, remove the plugs and put in a set of new OEM/bosch with stock gap (~0.030). Don't fix what isnt broken.

You can also flash back to stock and see if codes come up, BM3 is known to suppress codes, especially those related to misfires.
