Hey Everyone,
I just put together a "how to" change your plugs on an f30 328i. It's super easy and takes about 30 minutes or so. Just a note.. It's always best to get the recommended plugs from the dealer (or at least get the ones they sell). I say this because I tried to get cheaper plugs at Advance Auto.. and they have the wrong plugs listed! On their site they list Denso 3457 plugs as a direct replacement. I've been in contact with them and they should be removing them from the site soon.. This will save you about $350 if you do it yourself.. good luck! |

This video is greatly appreciated. Some of us early 328i owners are getting to this point with mileage and receiving the same shock when the dealer quotes them $300-400 for a plug change. I have been researching this service but couldn't find a video, until now. Just did a plug change on a 2012 X5 35i and it was a bit more complex than this requiring additional removal of parts to reach the back plugs. Thanks again for posting as this will ease my anxiety when doing the service myself.

thanks for the video, here's my tip to you on putting that engine cover back on: the part that faces your windshield on the cover has two spots that have to slide in first, once those slide in the right place then you can push it down into its locking position. Love the fact that more of these DIY vids keep popping up now that most of us are out of warranty, great help

Did you manage to reset the service indicator for the spark plugs after replacing them?
This is the only thing that holds me back from doing it myself, as it is really easy to do it. |

That's something you don't have to do. I'm looking at the list on my iDrive and its oil, vehicle check, brake fluid, and front and rear brakes |

Check here (in Swedish): This is when I enter the last Service in the Service history menu. It says "Time for service: 7 months" for both air filter and microfilter. And "Time for service: 1900km" for spark plugs. I really want to do these myself, as they are all three really easy DIY. But then iDrive wont show them as done! |

Thanks again for posting, just hit 60k and did the spark plug change. When I removed the old spark plugs, they were pretty dark and definitely needed to be changed. Completed the service with no hiccups, learned more about my car, and saved some cash.

Would love to do this myself, but I can't find any information on how to clear the service history (check my posted images a few posts up).
Is there any solution to this? |

Still like to double check. It's easy to bend a tip in shipping transit.
