Eco pro charge meter

Hi, I have just collected my 320d G20 that has around 8000 miles on it and after doing around 70 miles driving the display in eco pro that show the charge (battery) has not being charged so to speak, I've had 3 other bmws that show this as fully charged most of the time, any ideas why it's not charged? The car was driven in eco pro to charge it
Picture attached
Thanks

If this is like the F30 version I think that only fills up when you driving along and coasting/foot off the accelerator?

Not sure about the G20 version though.

Looks the same as my 520i

I'm not sure it ever shows how charged the battery is, just whether it's actually being charged

As said above, that shows how much you are charging the battery through coasting/light braking.

I understand. Its a bit counter-intuitive but it's a thing with eco pro mode. Presumably in a good state of charge, when you coast in ecopro, the alternator disconnects to reduce rolling resistance and the car uses the the battery to power the car to maximise the coasting distance. This is further enhanced as the car can also (if selected in the menu) reduce the power draw of the air conditioning and seat heating. Hence the battery isn't charging (its discharging to a point). When you use the throttle again the alternator reconnects and tops up the energy used during the coast (but that won't register on the dash).

This doesn't happen in Comfort or Sport where the alternator stays connected (and charging) all the time.

Isn't it the other way round? In my F30 even in Sport the battery will charge on coasting according to the dash, therefore the alternator is connected during coasting and disconnects during acceleration.

Sorry i wasn't clear, by coasting in eco pro mode (as opposed to sport for example) the power between the engine and gearbox is cut and the engine idles so there is no overrun to charge the battery.
