JB4 on B48 with E85?
I'm looking to get a *30e as my daily instead of pure electric and would like to run, from local reasons, E85 on it. From what I understood JB4 supports E85 usage, even without a hardware sensor based on "a virtual sensor" that is calculated from lambda, but of course I wouldn't get the same amount of performance out of the engine with pure E85 than I do with E45. I have some experience from mixing and matching fuels as I have an original DME flex fuel N54 as my hobby car.
Now, has anyone ran a JB4+B48 on pure E85 and what your experience with it has been? I'm not holding my breath currently on B-series support for FF on the original ECU, but if that is in the cards in the future that would definitely be the end-all solution for this for me.

Thanks for your reply! What kind of safe-for-the-fuel-system power is available on 100% E85, would you happen to know?

For straight E85 you'd need a flash map to adjust the scalars, and then once you flash the car there are other implications with that. But for those out of warranty and lease we'll be evaluating flash tuning for the B48 soon and see what we can do with E85 mixtures.

As with N54 I somewhat assume that an LPFP upgrade is needed if going full E85. What I am not looking tho, is extracting the maximum amount of power from the engine with E85, but rather just run the cheaper and locally more environmental fuel while making more power than stock. How much more, that then depends on the restrictions of the fuel delivery system, which I'm not yet familiar of as I play around with my hobby N54.

The low pressure fuel pump is the same as the B58 vehicles so we should be OK there. It's all about the tuning side. Between the JB4 and MHD we can probably nail down a really good E85 result.

Any update on e85 on the B48/B46? I'd be interested. Can't find which fuel pump fits & is able to run full e85 on my B46.

I am wondering this too. I just bought a b48 as a daily and I have e85 easily accessible. Does anyone know if there are HPFP or LPFP issues with running full e85?
Also, does anyone know if the fuel lines are the same for the b48 as the b58? I'm assuming they are but I haven't looked yet. About to start my research now. I'll post more if I find answers. |
