BMW F30 DIY Plasti dip Roof + Carbon Fiber Accessories - Emblems - Spoiler - Pillars
Here are some mods i did to the car over the weekend with my brother. He is an auto body collision specialists, so i knew he would be up for a fun little project all at the cost of some pizza and beers .
0:25 - Gently get underneath the hood emblem with a screwdriver. Use some tape on the screwdriver and a towel against the car to prevent from scratching the car. 1:08 - To my surprise, the stock emblem was attached with double sided tape. Since the CF emblems we had happened to have studs - We used a dremel to take off the studs of both the front bumper and the new emblems. 1:30 - Used some 3m double sided tape around the emblem to attach it to the surface. Works Great! Make sure to center it. It took him a couple of shots. 1:40 - Gently slide a screwdriver on the side of the emblem. With a couple of nudges- it should slide out easily. 1:54 - The Stick on emblem was better quality than i expected! I was not going to place it in the first place. But it worked out. 1:59 - Use your 3m double sided tape to cover as much of the bottom part of the spoiler as you can. Start taping from the edges of the spoiler and cut off all the excess tape near the center of the spoiler with a blade. 2:23 - Sprinkle some water on the Roof of the car to get rid of any dirt. And then wipe all of the dirt with a microfiber cloth. 2:33 - Once that dries up - Tape up the windows and start painting! 4:04 - First coat is complete. Since we were running out of time - My brother decided to apply two heavy coats of plasti dip. 4:08 - Second coat is almost complete on one half of the car. 6:07 - Gently start at the bottom of the pillar and work your way up while applying pressure to the strip. As you can see - My brother did a great job applying the plasti dip! It came out really smooth. We only used a little under 3 cans of black dip. We didnt use the clear coat because i ended up liking the matte finish. He usually works with actual spray guns and he said that it really hurt his forearm compared to a normal spray gun. I hope you enjoyed! I know this thread's been inactive for a while, but I've been looking at similar headlight eyebrows for my 330i wagon. Did you black them out? If so, was wondering what the process was. Was thinking of painting them alpine white for mine to match the rest of the body
