Just a quick question when tapping the a3 and a4 wire to the pin 17 and pin 12 of 172/174 socket does thet mean you just have to code cold/warm checks and change bulb to led?
I added HELC and for some reason in my ista+ the conversion of lci rear tail light is gone |

I just bought a set and a retrofit cableset.
I am going to install it tomorrow but it will take a few days more to code it with a friend. What happens without coding? Does most of it work or not? Will it flikker and look like a christmastree / will the cops take me off the road? :-) Otherwhise I need to postpone.. |

Without coding there is a flicker at start up as it runs the cold bulb test. Then every so often a real quick flicker for the warm test I believe. Turn signal wise just the outer part will light up and not the inner lamp. Brake lights function normally though. Some one can correct me if I’m wrong though. I coded mine right away, but did a quick test before coding.
Also, I think it was only soft codes thrown for the issue. No dash lights/iDrive errors. Now that I did the coding I do still have a single remaining soft code for REM 80489D lamp mapping implausible. Comes back every time I start the car, but been too lazy check my coding since I don’t scan my code often enough to care. |

I had to follow this guide as the I-Step on my F82 is from 2014-11 Adding HELC to HO-wort did not work for me the car just ignored it / refused to take it (no error's though). The problem I have now though, is that the right side boot light does not flash (indicator / turn signal). I have double checked all the above coding and also checked the wiring, so can only assume I have a dodgy adaptor harness |

The issue that you are having is: your i-level is not compatible.
You need to update your I-level. Or you have to wiretap the additional cables. |

I haven’t looked into any further. I rarely check for codes so it hasn’t been a priority for me. Would like to fix it though. Most of my time has been focused on mods for my new car so the BMW doesn’t get a lot of attention currently.

Hi David or anyone, really hope you can help me here. i picked up a 2015 F80 (production 2014-Nov). i guess previous owner did the lci tail light upgrade. i actually have no flickering issues but inner light does not light up either braking (brake force) or when left /right signal indicator comes on i dont think im missing oem retro wiring harness but the cable that goes down to REM is different color ( left side is green and right side is red in my case) compare to what other have posted (green and blue). i attached some photo here. can you let me know if i can just use the above coding to complete my LCI conversion? first photo shows the left wiring harness with green cable from left inner lamp second photo s hows the right wiring harness with red cable from right inner lamp third photo shows green cable goes to A174 12b fourth photo shows red cable goes to A174 14b extra information, before i coded in brakeforce display type to flashing, it throws an error 2-stage left brake lamp malfunction and 2-stage right brake lamp malfunction. after i coded in brakeforce display type to flashing, it went away lol Last edited by 623baller; 11-04-2019 at 02:19 AM.. |

after reading this thread over and over again, i think mine is wired up correctly like David suggested already and i have necessary coding in place but inner brake light still doesnt light up when turn signal is on , brake lights lit up though
so i m assuming bad wiring harness and get a new one? still need to check if its going correctly to A174 12b pin 17 and A174 14b pin 12 edit: ok i checked A174 14b, its actually plugged into pin 22 which is wrong, pin 12 is already taken, i was unable to get A174 12b to slide out from the housing but i see pin17 is also taken already, cant exactly tell which pin its currently plugged into so my only options right now is splice into A174 14b pin 12 and A174 12b pin 17 oem harness? are there ways to just power up a174 12b pin 22 and respectively for what's in 12b (need to figure out which pin it's plugged in)? picture 1 , shows left wire (red) in pin 22 picture 2, shows a174 14b pin 12 already occupied by blk/white wire picture shows, a174 12b pin 17 already occupied by blk/white wire . i cant slide the harness out to see what pin green wire is seated now Last edited by 623baller; 11-05-2019 at 11:03 PM.. |

Hello
your red son is not in the right position you have to connect it like the picture this manipulation is used to get on the outside flashers Right grip: Connect the purple / gray wire slot # 1 to the REM (A174) socket (A174 * 14B) black / gray slot # 12 Left socket: connect blue / red wire slot # 1 to REM box (A174) plug (A174 * 12B) black / white slot # 17 |

thanks so much David. both 14b pin 12 and 12b pin 17 are taken already, i have no choice but to tap the wires? also i have hard time getting 12b harness to slide out from the black housing, any tips and tricks on how to get it out? i try to pry open the circled part and push up from the square part but it wont move. i used the same method on 14b and it worked so i dont know whats the difference. i still want to remove the green and red wire from the wrong pins out before i tap into the correct location which is why im asking or should i just cut the green and red wire and tape it up then tap them to the wires taking 14b pin 12 and 12b pin 17 and call it a day? |
