New F31 330d Xdrive on order

After months of deciding which spec to go for and best deals available, I finally decided on

Citrine Black
Cashmere Beige
Piano black trim with Pearl Chrome finisher
Interior Comfort Pack
Visibility Pack
M Sport Plus Package
Media Pack Professional
Windscreen Grey Shade
Heated Fronts Seats
Heated Rear Seats
Electric Front Seats
Adaptive M Sport Suspension
Model Designation deletions
Smokers Pack
Electric Folding Exterior Mirrors
Service Pack

I only have a few concerns, is scotch guard worth going for and is the paintwork insurance worth it? Are claims easy to process if anything does go wrong?

Welcome and very nice spec!

But are you really going to smoke in your brand new BMW?!

Sounds great. I did not bother with the paint insurance or scotch guard....

No I wouldn't smoke in it, but the stupid thing they put in place of it bugs me. Plus it could be useful when I can't find my lighter, which isn't very often but still.

This is gonna be my first brand new car, if only the wait wasn't so long.

I'm only really thinking about Paint Insurance because the car will mostly be parked in a car park which higher risk of getting scratched.

Are lead times really as long as 4 months, ordered Wednesday, due for delivery mid June?

Not usually quite that long, however you did order the smoker pack, that easily adds a month to the build

Edit...

Actually I am surprised you have a delivery date, my dealer cannot get mine booked in yet for a mid/ late May delivery.

Ah good to hear!

Regarding the scotch guard, it is the opinion of people in the know on here that getting your own detailer to seal the paint is the way to go. There's quite a lot about it on this thread:

100% agree get a decent detailer and you can get really good job done.

Also get shopping for some proper cleaning stuff - hehe more money

Nice someone actually getting theirs later then men

I put deposit and order in 2 weeks ago, just have to wait for build date.

I am getting protect and shine free, however will still be getting it detailed ( after holidays).

I may try and find someone locally to detail it, as summer time will be a perfect time to done.

The dealer claimed the expected build date for the car is May as it is an Individual spec

I originally wanted to go for EB 2, but due to where I have keep the car at the moment I decided against getting a loud colour. But I really like the unique colour. I will post pics once i finally get it

jit84 - your special colour and leather makes the waiting time so long I suppose.
However mine pretty standard but well equipped took about 2 months to get into production, probably due to scheduled (3-4 weeks ?) factory brake in the beginning of the year.

That's what the dealer told me, he said that if I went with just normal colours I could of had it in 2 months, same with the interior.

As its my first brand new car I wanted to go for something different.

Guess I just have to wait, should be worth the wait.

Definitely worth waiting will be excellent, I considered a few colours but decided on EBII, not many around here mainly MG, black and whites.

I am looking forward to change from 320 to 330

I thought about Citrine Black or Tanzanite Blue and Imperial Blue Xirallic. The last one not available with M-sport, two others too long to wait but I could not. So MG is on its way...however now I think I like more EBII

After a long month of waiting, I got a call today saying that my car will be delivered a month early, now it will be due mid May.

I wish BMW wouldnt take so long to make their cars, the wait is killing me

I still do not understand why it takes car makers so long to put cars into production.

Maybe it increases value with long waiting lists

Certain dealers get specific build dates, also rhd have their own build schedule to sneak in to the lhd schedule.

Also certain options will rely on BMW suppliers getting long lead time parts in on time etc.

It can all mess up a build.

Thanks Brigand, guess it makes sense.

Just wish I didn't have to waiting so long, I was even tempted to change the colours so I could get it sooner
