Probably, if it's from the OEM side. The Android part is just an Add-On to the OEM.

Andream Snapdragon headunit

Guys , what are your thoughts about this Andream (Eway) unit with Snapdragon processor :

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...chweb201603_52

It is the only one on the market featuring an external box . I think is an advantage because of all the heat generated by all those chips is not anymore in the back of the display . The display generates itself a lot of heat . I've seen quite a few units damaged because of heat . Also seems to offer a slightly better cable management .

can anyone give any insight on the differences between the PX6 (rock chip processor) and the snap dragon version? Which would be better?

rockchip:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3295...9-9054ff2435a0

snapdragon:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3304...72225e9aJquJWI

EDIT: kind of answered my own question. The rock chip is a 6 core vs snapdragons 8 core. rock chip version can come with apple CarPlay built in. Anything to decide beyond this or are well all taking shots in the dark? =p

On paper there are a few advantages of Snapdragon versions:
- less heat
- slightly more powerfull chip
- bluetooth 4.1 vs 4.0
- dsp sound
- 4G support - although not all bands
- 64Gb storage vs 32Gb
- 4k video support , H265 decoding
For me less heat and dsp sound are the most important .
As disadvantages
- no built in carplay(i don't use)
- looks like UI is not configurable or switchable(big let down) - I am not quite a fan of this ID7 UI implementation

Some seller(s) give you the option for built in carplay even for snapdragon unit. I don’t remember where but I’ve seen it. Could be a hoax though

Not quite, like on the ali link above on the video it's seen how ID5 and ID6 are still available to choose from Factory Settings.

Also the UI on the Snapdragon ones seem more advanced. From just the photos and videos I'm seeing:

- Media search and proper listing
- Being able to display cover art of current track in home
- Bluetooth can be unpaired and possibly paired with multiple devices (having the issue I cannot unpair my bluetooth unless I completely disable this feature from Android)
- Settings looks more advanced and being able to play with brightness controll
- Factory Settings looks simpler and updated

Honestly I wish I could have waited a little more for the snapgragon one instead of the Rockchip I had now installed. If anyone is willing to swap out their Snapdragon v2.3.5 with a PX6 Rockchip with AntiGlare and built in CarPlay and Android Auto i'm all ears

What happens with all preinstalled Apps after the Android 9 update? My Unit has Apple Carplay running with the Zjinnova Z-Link App. Do I loose these with the Update?

Do you need a cable to do Android auto like Avin sells for $99 or can you run the android auto app straight from the unit? Can you use wifi direct from your phone for internet?

I'm more interested in the DAC sound quality output. Most of the feedback I check in the forum mention the DAC on PX6 unit is not really good and the workaround is to get a USB DAC.

At least from 2.0.5 on you can choose ID6 UI, i already saw 2.1.7 but found no source yet.
I`d prefer NBT UI anyways,

Pretty all custom BMW Style GUI`s are now controllable via the CIC controller whats really nice (exept factory menu for sure )

what i recently found out is that when doing a call over BT to the original HU (in my case CIC) the bluetooth connection does drop very often.
it seems that there are then too much wireless senders at around 2,4 ghz , because when disableing BT / WiFi on the android and Wireless hotspot on my phone, the BT connection to the car was ok again.
It i need to find a solution for lowering the wirless power output on the android device.

What absoluteley fascinating is, is that you can activate Android Auto on the Units itself, so no external mobile phone is necessary anymore
Also voice recognition (google Assistant) is then listening/wating always for your "ok google"
wifi from your phone for sure does also work.

that might happen, depending on how your seller has installed the software.
try to access /system/app/ folder , if you can access it, find your software and make a backup of the APK file.

Oh and for users who a using google maps, you need to deactivate the "Picture in Picture" mode because when this is active and you go back to the main menu there is a 5 sec pause until the Idrive controller does respond anymore.

Frankly, when you have bought your unit from china, try to sell your unit on ebay or ebay kleinanzeigen
i sold my PX6 last week and still got very good money for it

Anyone who owns a Snapdragon unit has problem with car's original interface being less bright ?
I have this problem with an older PX3, android 4.4 unit on E90/CIC.
I want to buy Andream's NBT unit for F10 and I don't want to have this surprise .

Thanks for your reply, Kri. Need to see about NBT units . CIC has additional connector on original display which might handle automatic luminosity.

CIC in E Series never had the ability for automatic light control, there was a sensor build in in the first E90 CIC displays, but the control was never implemented into the HU.
on the later CIC displays the sensor also has been removed and only the sensor hole was left.
So only control from the car (which can be disabled) is to automatically set the display darker when light is on, or at Android itself (day/night time)

Ahh, that makes sense . Never opened CIC display, but I remember having the sensor on E60 CCC.
Also don't remeber having display brightness control on Android 4.4 - Andream unit.

Interesting, what kind of reset exactely will be done ?

what i`m afraid of is that the unit on the video does have the reset button on the left side not at the back side like alot of other users.
this may cause confusion and for sure some users who pin their microphone to death

Chri
