Autodoc - jokers
Just a heads up not to order from Autodoc anytime soon. Ordered some Brembo discs and pads a week ago, all showing in stock and hadn't heard anything so tried their live chat. The guy was very helpful but broke the news that they had paused deliveries to the UK because of Covid & Brexit with no timescale of when they would start again. He insisted it was clear on their site, but it's not. All they say is there may be delays due to covid.

I'm not sure its really fair to call them jokers...
They, like everyone else got so little notice of the change impacts of Brexit. I would also really question if they haven't actually done you a favour - cant see them being cheaper when all the taxes and fees are added... |

Make it clear and don't allow orders, then no one gets frustrated. Everyone got short notice but made the necessary changes, I can see the OPs viewpoint. Armaan |

Absolutely nothing on the app. Just went on added a couple Brembo discs to my basket (they already have my address) free delivery went to checkout which had my U.K. address in already and it just said pay now. No warning.
Thanks for the heads up I've have been looking at new brakes soon |

You might want to stay away from
www.bestpartstore.co.uk www.autopartspro.co.uk www.onlinecarparts.co.uk www.autodoc.co.uk As they are all the same company, i'm sure there are more variants as well. Are there any cheap UK based car part stores? Remind me why people voted for brexit.

These delays are not entirely surprising. EU based retailers selling to the U.K. are now facing considerable red tape, not least of which having to be VAT registered in the U.K.
I suspect that Autodoc, along with the other trading names of that company will go through this process it will take some time, although it will probably depend on how much business they actually do in the U.K. Goods shipping has certainly been affected across the channel, as has been widely reported by both liberal and conservative media outlets. COVID has definitely had an impact here. As a result the availability of goods shipping has somewhat reduced, this will in turn push costs up, at least in the short term. In this case Autodoc may be unwilling to shoulder the additional shipping expenses. Prior to all this I personally found Autodoc and their other brands (good for getting first time buyer cashback) to be pretty good. Nothing ever arrived quickly, typically a week to 10 days, but I always received exactly what I'd ordered and at an excellent price (especially with cashback factored in). Back in November with the prospect of a no deal Brexit looming and COVID restrictions getting more onerous I made the decision to order all the materials for the next two services on my car. Very glad I did that now. Hopefully things will return to some form of normality sooner rather than later. |

VAT registered in the UK just to deliver here when their registered address and VAT number is somewhere in EU? Surely not? They'd just need an EORI number surely otherwise no EU Company would trade with us.
My Company is not VAT registered outside of UK but we move goods to and from EU with the EORI number only with no problems so far. I'm no expert though so I'll defer to your knowledge but it would seem incredible if thousands of companies in Europe have to get a UK VAT number. Makes no sense to me.

I'm not sure if you deal with anyone in Northern Ireland, but you now need to apply for an EORI number that starts with XI (instead of GB) for sending stuff to NI. I believe it's fairly simple to do if you already have an EORI number.

Shipping and trading is a massive problem just now. A really good friends of mine from back when I was racing is the UK importer of KTM bikes and Puky (a kids bike brand). Despite both of these having no tariff applied because they are predominantly European made (unlike most bike brands) they still haven't seen a shipment arrive since before Christmas because of the complete clusterfuck that's going on in the road distribution network at the moment. You can airfreight stuff but doing that with several 40T truck's in volume is clearly not an alternative. |

Thanks Ian, we have several large accounts in NI. I'll look into this.
