The trans will hold fine. xHP transmission flash should be flashed in order for the transmission to handle the higher torque.

Do you happen to know what the transmission flash do in order to handle the torque? How can software reduce the mechanical load and higher temperature?

tx!

The flash increases line pressure and raises the torque figures so the transmissions can recognize that more torque is going to be applied. It also decreases shift times. If you are really concerned about hurting the transmissions, Pure Drivetrain Solutions can build you a ZF8HP50 that is rated for about 1000hp and 850tq. That package would cost 6k for the trans. I'd say, if your plans are to not exceed 550 wheel torque, you'll be fine most likely. I've seen people run in the 600s with no issues.

Just curious, do you still have the car and if so how is the trans holding? With xHP new drag mode I'm already trying to figure out what I'm gonna do if the trans pops. Drag mode is so rad, and now that I've tried it I can't live without it.

Well... xHP's comments:
"Please note, that expected wear on clutch packs is around 4 times higher and transmissions in less than optimal working-state can develop mis-shifts! This is especially true for highly tuned vehicles already experiencing issues with clutch-slip! Software canít exceed the limits of your hardware!"

I'd expect that you're going to find the transmission eventually grenading which is going to be super fun and expensive.

Still own the car but only at 108000km now. Zero issues.

Think logically about this. How many percent of your shifts are "drag mode shifts"? 0.01%?? Alright, now those 0.01% shifts account for 0.04% of the wear............. See where I am going? And who says anything will pop? Hear say or from a reliable source (Bimmerpost is probably not ).

It's more the slip is the issue. If the clutch packs wear, and the then slip, it glazes the surfaces and it's all downhill after that.

Will it happen? Who knows? The reality is launch mode is bad for the car, launch mode + drag mode is even worse. But the choice is there should you be willing to "pay to play".

Do auto transmission clutch packs "glaze"? I've never heard that. Perhaps if the fluid was super hot, but the clutches will likely just wear faster. I know that I'm wearing the trans faster, that's an obvious. But I knew I was wearing everything faster when. I swapped in a larger turbo and cranked up the boost and timing. Drag mode is just the next level. And it's amazing.
