2018 8.8" Display Upgrade Woes

So here's my scenario. I have a 2018 330i that came with the 6.5" display. I wanted to update to the 8.8" and started reading about how easy it was. I knew from my research that I needed to buy an LCI screen, so I went on eBay and bought myself a 65509387453 off a 2016 M4.

Popped it in and coded the following:

DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION : 8.8_1280x480
DISPLAY_VARIANTE : breites_display
CID_DISPLAY_RES: 1280_480
CID_DISPLAY_SIZE: 8_8

Still got No Signal from the display. Reversed the coding and put the old display in and all was well. So then I got to reading again and while it seems that the voltage should be the same, my ID6 uses APIX2. So this time, I put in the display and coded the following:

CID_APIX_MODE: APIX1
CID_COLOR_DEPTH: 18
CID_COM_MODE: spi
CID_DISPLAY_RES: 1280_480
CID_DISPLAY_SIZE: 8_8
DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION : 8.8_1280x480
DISPLAY_VARIANTE : breites_display

Still no dice.

So that leaves me with some questions:

1) Does anyone have any coding I'm missing to get my current screen working before I sell it? I would have thought the second run should have covered it.

2) RealOEM says the 65508709339 touch screen is what specifically works on my car, but that's really expensive... any reason why 65506822626 wouldn't work? It seems it's both the same voltage and APIX2 compatible too.

Thanks in advance.

65509387453 seems to be an APIX1 display, especially since it came from a 2016 model. Simply coding in APIX1 wont display anything since you also need a physical voltage converter. 65506822626 should work for you since you have a 2018 APIX2 compatible headunit.

they sell voltage converter cables for the issue you're having, but I would rather get a APIX2 display and not use a voltage converter cable.

Thank you. I kind of assumed the 453 was the same voltage, but I guess I was wrong about that. Makes sense though.

I managed to find a guy locally who made the same mistake in reverse. We've arranged a swap as I don't want to be messing around with the power.

Will update when I put the 626 in.

If you don't get it to work after checking\solving the hardware issues, remember you need to code everything with Esys. Don't use Bimmercode or anything else similar. I've had this exact issue after swaping a cid and the coding software was the cause. Only use Esys.

I have been using BimmerCode.

Admittedly most everything I've coded with it has worked with the exception of playing my phone ringtone instead of the BMW tone.

I'm going to (no matter what) trade up to the 626 CID, but if after coding I'm still not getting results I'm going to have to invest the time in getting esys running.

Update: I can now confirm that the 65506822626 works on the NBT_EVO in my 2018. Used the following coding parameters in Bimmercode and I'm good to go!

DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION : 8.8_1280x480
DISPLAY_VARIANTE : breites_display
CID_DISPLAY_RES: 1280_480
CID_DISPLAY_SIZE: 8_8

Thanks everyone for your help.

Can't find these lines.

When in the advanced mode, (at least with iOS) you can scroll up and there is a search box. Just type in CID, or resolution, or whatever you want and it'll find it.
