if yes, how much discount would you ask for? What to look for before taking delivery?

It depends on why it was sitting around. The last time I was looking there was a perfect car, except had a custom paint job and the buyer didn't or couldn't finish the sale. The car was black with a white racing strip over the hood, roof and trunk lid. It looked like a skunk. Ask for the story if there is no obvious flaw

Thank for the reply. The one I'm eyeing for is not that special. It's a fully-loaded MY2020 F36 when G22 is just around the corner, I guess that's why it was never sold. As for stories, I bet they'll told me it has been used for display or stored indoor with care blah blah blah but we'll never know. Last time I checked it has spider webs on the bumper LOL

Nothing wrong with a 2020 F series car unless you specifically want a G series. There will probably be good deals on F3x cars as the G20 and G22's come out and dealers want to get rid of old stock. Check Carfax and make sure it's clean and should be ok. I just bought a 2018 F32 with less than 4k miles on it as a CPO recently and love it.

My 340i sat from November 2015 until November 2016 until originally being sold. Car is fine. Guess Melbourne red on beige wasn't popular.

If it is a brand new car with a hundred miles on the odometer then what is the problem when you get it cheaper?
Its just a new car sitting for a discount.

You're precisely right, there is nothing wrong with the F36. Fact is, I love the F36 and that's why I'm considering it. My situation is a bit weird, as stated in this thread https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1772744. I have a 2018 F36 right now and the lease is coming to maturity real soon. I planed to buy it out but the deal has proposed to sell me this "new" 2020 F36. It has a huge FS incentive and the dealer must be well motivated to get rid of the car sitting in their lot for a lease 15 months

And yes, I'm aiming for a really good deal here, but question is, how good of a deal?

It is new and should have only double digits mileage. Hope I can get as good a deal as this https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1569137

my 440xi was on the lot for about a year.
ended up "sign and drive lease" for $440/mo. I think they discounted over $10K or something. $63K MSRP

Issues: swirl marks like mad! also my dashboard metal pieces are coming off. don't know if its a defect or just because it sat so long. who knows... that'll be fixed next oil change...

Perhaps just make sure you have the full factory warranty on it and not just a balance of what is left...not sure if the warranty starts when the dealer insured the car as a demo.

Garage List
Not a BMW, but I have one of these cars:

https://www.greencarreports.com/news...-modifications

My TDI was manufactured June 2015, but delivered as new April 2017. No issues so far.

Components and fluids of the car will age no matter what and the start time is based on when the car was made, not sold. At 18 months old, not much needs replacement. I would ask the dealer to do a oil change, cabin filter change, and brake fluid change. These are items normally done on a two-year old car regardless of mileage. In the case of my TDI, VW required dealers to recondition the car prior to delivery. The paint was a mess, swirl marks and highly contaminated, but nothing a good paint correction and ceramic coat couldn't fix.

As others have said, make sure the in-service date is your date of sale and no earlier. Have the dealer show you the Warranty Vehicle Inquiry report for the car. You'll have the warranty to back you up on most issues, so look out for stuff that isn't covered by warranty: rodent damage, physical damage, etc.

Unless the car is being sold as a used vehicle, the factory warranty for all new cars starts from in-service date, or when the vehicle was delivered.

If the vehicle is new and the price is right, it's difficult to say no the deal - all other things being equal.

I'll be honest - I would just tempt asking them to knock a grand off and chance my arm.
