No one can truly make you any promises but the flash is mostly invisible at the dealer level. If it goes past that then all bets are off.

So I raced a 540i with my 340i stage 1 today. He had no chance!!! About 2 car lengths in a little less than a 1/4 mile. Next week I'll have a dp installed and will go to stage 2 😱

Yep I'm switching to Stage 1 E30 after my next dealer service. It's just too easy to squeeze extra juice out of these cars.

How come my butt-dyno didn't record any difference between stage 1 and stage 2?

I've never driven a platform where the stage 1 to stage 2 jump was mind blowing. I'm not sold it would be any different on this platform tbh, but it seems for once they are actually increasing boost and timing. Most tunes just account for increased airflow so power comes on sooner and stays up for longer. You'd need to race them side by side to get a true comparison.

I did feel something when my GTI went for APR stg 1 to 2. The bimmer is still fun to drive no matter what stage it is on! Thanks

That's funny because I didn't feel a big difference on my GLI lol. I had to race my friends Stage 1 GTI to see the difference. Down low it was the same, but it gave it more top end. Even on their dyno graphs it didn't show a huge difference, maybe 5-10whp across the curve. But I was in a mk5 with a gen1 tsi...if you were in a mk7 then the difference may have been more.

Yeah I have an MK7. The biggest difference I felt was the increased torque higher on the range under high load, which made my stage 1 clutch go.

You're making me have flashbacks man. Nothing like needing a $1000+ clutch upgrade for a bolt on tune

But on our cars, the BM3 tune actually adds 2-3psi so I'd expect it to be somewhat noticeable. Personally I'm trying out Stage 1 e30 first to see if I really notice anything. A fuel change is easier for me than buying and installing additional hardware. Less noticeable at the dealer level too. If I don't feel a big improvement, I can just switch back to 93 until proper fuel upgrades and E85 support is available.

Anyone notice a loud air sucking or escaping noise with BM3 Stage 1 and a DP? I feel like something is leaking to be hearing this sound, but I don't see smell anything... So just wondering if its a combination of the extra boost and the DP.

From mine I think it's just the intake sucking in air and more turbo noise. But some of the videos I've seen with a downpipe have a loud howling sound.

If you spray some soapy water on the connections while the car is cold and start it up, you'll see if there's a leak somewhere. check around the turbo and the O2 sensor for leaks.

If its leaking, you will typically hear a ticking/rattle sound at the turbo flange when the engine is running.

With my Active Autowerke exhaust, it's a huge "whoosh!" sound at WOT. That became more pronounced with the DP.

Going to try and add a gallon of e85 and run logs again. But obviously she's still pulling strong without it.
Did you try to run the 91octane map but while using 93octane gas? A lot of gas that says it's 93 octane isn't. I had timing issues running stage 2 and 93 map. Switched to 91 map while using "93" octane and timing was really good.

Nope. I experienced the same thing with Shell 93 and even with the bit of e85 added. Regapping my stock plugs seemed to help significantly. I'm switching to the E30 map after my dealer service on Friday so I'm not as worried about it anymore.

Will the car start? If not, then recode the DME.

If the car runs, then just restart it. First time I flashed, I got a drive train error 20 feet after pulling out of my driveway. Re-started car and it went away. Same thing after flashing the E30 map. Subsequent flashes back to stock and then back to Stage 2 never gave any errors.

It didn’t like getting started, said transmission was hot and to stop and put it into P

Did an online recode and it’s sorted it out!

How does my log look?

Throttle closure from ~2500rpm until about 5k rpm.

You're also getting knock and the timing looks low. What kinda gas are you using? Try the Stage 2 91 map or the Stage 1 93 map if you have 93 available.

Edit: I have slight throttle closure as well.

Yeh i seen the throttle closure, but i have seen alot of logs with similar throttle closure in that area, boost control i think as the boost spikes there, did see the 2 knock counts,

Im using shell vpower should be 99Ron, i have only done 30 miles since the flash do you think it could just be taking a bit of adjustment ?
