Number Emblem on Trunk??

1st time BMW owner. Bought a used 2014 BMW 428i, but the emblem on the trunk shows 430i. Why is this?? Just curious?? All the paper work shows 428i, but on the car itself it shows 430i??

The 428i was replaced with the 430i. The previous owner may have changed the emblem to make people think he had a newer can than he did.

If your paperwork is correct, then your seller was insecure about not owning the latest model.

Accident repair with newer part? Think the 328 to 330 change was around 2016-2017 Just don't remember but your year is a 328

You never know what's gone through the mind of a previous owner! Changing the model badge might have made him feel better about the car.

Maybe the previous owner liked how 430 looked instead of 428. Easier then changing grills or side marker lights.

Yeah last owner changed it.

I have a 430i and I'm debadging it like I've done on every car since the 90s.

I would have the dealership re-badge it back to a 328i at no cost to you.
Every time I see a car where I can tell the badge was tampered with, I make sure to get a good look at the driver. Interestingly enough, it's rarely ever young guys like I would have assumed. I've seen a number of girls with fake badging on their cars. BMW isn't too bad about it, but the number of C250 AMGs and C300 AMGs I've seen is mind boggling lol

Perhaps--but the emblem would have to be damaged in the accident. If they replace the trunk lid, they typically re-use the old emblem.

Not necessarily. If they de badge the trunk to paint it they will usually put new emblems on. Had that happen to me. Car had bumper painted and shop insisted on painting trunk as well so the back of the car will look more uniform with everything painted a fresh coat.
