I have been using Carly since it came out and was known by other names. Looking over a post yesterday someone mentioned BimmerCode. I remember downloading this at some point but then uninstalling it and kept Carly.
1. Does anyone use BimmerCode and prefer it to Carly? 2. Can BimmerCode work with the Carly adapter? The app suggests a Vgate iCar2 adapter which can be had for 20 down from 80 on Amazon but is that particular one required? 3. Which app has more coding capabilities? 4. Customer support difference between the two? At a glance it looks like BimmerCode might work out cheaper for things such as battery reset etc. Well there is a separate app by the same developer. Thanks |

I've bought both BimmerCode and BimmerLink (fault diag) and avoided Carly as a) it was never clear if it supported my F15 and b) I didn't like the lack of clarity around what was included (buying modules here and there). So far with BimmerCode: 1) Don't know - not used Carly but it looks similar. The only additional thing with BimmerCode is the 'Expert Mode' where you can access every CAFD line like eSys 2) I Bought the Vgate which is wifi - I believe the Carly adapter is bluetooth which may suggest it's in compatible. In fact, I tried Carly with the Vgate and while it connects, it can't read. 3) I 'think' BimmerCode but someone more familiar with Carly may tell us there is an expert mode. 4) I sent a support request via BimmerCode and got a reply the following day - I think it's a one man band though, Carly is a bigger outfit?

I've got Carly with a Carly adapter. The adapter is wifi based. I've not tried bimmercode but have used other OBD tools like OBDFusion and that works flawlessly.
There is no expert mode in Carly, you are strictly limited to the options it gives you. As for the in-app purchases, I'm not entirely a fan of these, especially given how expensive the app is in the first place. However I've never encountered a problem. Updates adding more support for the newest cars seem to come quickly. |

Just got myself Bimmercode yesterday and initial thoughts are it's very good, easy to use and reversible if a code doesn't take or the car doesn't like it. Not tried expert mode yet.

I think Carly is crap.
That's my experience on my 440i No compatibility with iDrive 6 and I can't do the changes I want in it's paid for mode. Will be going on Fleabay soon and I will get Bimmercode.

I think you only pay if you want to connect it to the car.

I was going to buy Carly but it's out of stock now and has been for quite a few weeks. There was an article about recently in BMW Car mag and it seemed ok, but quite limited compared to coding via E-sys. Still, given I'd never got round to using E-sys in 3 years despite being shown how to use it, it seemed like a reasonable option.
Then MarkG_M50d showed me Bimmercode this week and how easy it is, so have just ordered the Vgate thingy and it's delivered today actually.

I bought the Bimmerlink app (other app the same developer has made) for turning off ASD. Works completely fine.
Not gotten around to paying for the Bimmercode app yet as not fussed about coding anything (although turning off the stop/start button would be good).

I have just received my vgate icar2 and downloaded the bimmercodes app, I connected to the car with no issues at all, and could see various ECU's.
I went into the FEM ECU and could see the mirrors options but mine all referred to "fold mirrors when locking vehicle with comfort access", my car does not have comfort access, this was set to active with the only other option being not active. I am trying to enable the mirrors to fold when I lock the car, rather than holding the button down for several seconds. Am I missing something?

Will be following this as I'm interested in Bimmercode. I did buy the cable for e-sys but I just have an ancient laptop and I'm not too confident using the software. Things I would like to code are auto stop start, cornering fog lights and play about with the fake sound module whatever its called. Are these all straightforward to do with Bimmercode?

You need to change a werte value to reduce the delay. Select FEM body, Select expert mode, Select section 3053, Under KOMFORT_SCHLIESSEN - change the werte to '03' which gives you a very short delay before folding. Hope this works in BimmerCode - not tried it yet!

Discovered BimmerCode last week and I'm a convert. EDIT: Yet to see what happens when PSDZdata gets updated though... may all stop working!

I believe you can change the duration of the button hold in expert mode (down to 1 second or equal to one button push). I don't play with the expert mode, because this is my first attempt with coding, but Bimmercode provides that flexibility.... Pretty cool |
