I had this problem when I first got the car and it slowly dissipated. I now have 11,000 miles and my car sounds like a trolly pulling up to a stop light. Heading in to the dealer tomorrow as this needs to be addressed.

I have this problem also. 335i Xdrive... Took it in for repair, it was fine for 2 days, now it's back. Brand new car with about 1200km on it. Problem was noticed day 1 driving out for the first time and didn't go away after 1000km.

15,000 km, two visits to the dealer for this and my brakes are as noisy as ever. My tech indicated it will go away with time. I think it will only go away when the car goes away.

How long have you had your car before you noticed the brake squeal? Which dealership and how many times have you brought your car in prior to this for the same issue? I have 3.5k on the odometer and my dealer refuses to replace any brake parts, their claim is "the brakes are operating normally".

Did your work order have a reason for replacement? I've gone to 2 different local dealers and both of them are giving me the same bs story.

While this solution won't work for everyone I have used it with success in the past.
The squeal can come from the metal plate that forms the base of the pad (not pad itself). Get it just right and the plate and caliper resonate causing a squeal. By applying anti-squeal to the back of the pad (i.e. not the pad material but the part that touches the caliper) the squealing goes away. Here is an example of this product: http://www.amazon.com/CRC-Disc-Brake.../dp/B000CINV88 http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=555995_0_0_ Some have also used copper anti-seize with positive effect. I'm looking for Akebono Ceramic pads for the F30 (320i). Anyone know the part numbers? They don't dust up like BMW pads do and I've never had them squeal on previous cars. |

WE have the same problem with our 335i. We had it also on our old 2007 4.8i X5 too.
We tool them to the dealer and the SA told me that BMW brakes squeal....Get used to it! I wanted to choke him out, but instead, went over his head and talked to the Service Manager (who used to be a BMW mechanic and refreshingly was Sharp and didn't mind sharing his knowledge, which was Greatly Appreciated). He scheduled the car to chamfer the pads and lube the stuff. He also tried some type of spray on the back of the pads to help with chatter or vibration. This stopped it for now. He said that if it comes back, that he'll replace the pads with ones of my choice (I like Akebono pads because we've had good luck with them in the past and work as well or possibly better than OEM ones and give virtually Zero brake dust. Not too mention that they lasted over 55k miles on our last car). He also said that while he couldn't warranty the pads, he would still honor the rotor warranty. That's someone who is willing to work with a customer to keep them happy! I was Impressed by him......................The Service Advisor, not so much! |

It has seem to me with this cold weather for winter that my brakes are screeching more loudly when coming to a stop. Sounds horrible, almost like I'm braking with a bus with these msport brakes. Makes driving a new car sound old. Terrible

Ok socmy 328xi does not make noises or squeaking noises however when i had my g35 with upgraded brakes it would constantly squeak. Absolutely no problem with stopping or fading or part wearing down, just how some brakes are i think. I learned to live with it and wasnt mechanically flawed in any way just because it would make noises when coming to a slow stop.

Ours squealed until three months ago...We sold it and don't have to deal with squealing BMW brakes any more!
We were shocked when our Service Advisor told us that "BMW brakes squeal, get used to it!" I will give credit to the shop foreman though because he said that he was willing to change the pads to the Akebono's for the cost of the pads. I buy them and he'd eat the labor just to make us happy. Very Nice offer, but my wife had had enough of their attitude, so we moved on. This might solve be a solution though, change the brake pads to an Akebono pad. They are ceramic and make Very little dust. They also stop as well as BMW brakes. We had them on our old W211 E500 Benz and they lasted almost 60k miles. They are Great brakes and don't cost an arm and a leg. Best of all, they just plain work! Good Luck! |

Just took my car to the dealer for the 3rd time for brakes. I have a good relationship with my SA and he said bring it in so we can fix the squeek. After the car sat there for 2 days he said that he got corporate involved. Apparently corporate told my SA the squeek is normal because of the high performance brakes. Keep in mind i have the m sport with nonm sport brakes. 4 piston front and sliding rear.
How is a squeek this loud normal? If i tried to sell this car with this squeek id have a tough time explaining to someone this is normal. I feel like this is devaluing my car. How can i fix this on my own? |
