I had the old style OBD thingy with the esys software on my F30 - only used for things like turning the radio off on doors open, extending video codecs, VIM, remembering start/stop setting etc.

Getting an F36 LCI in a few weeks - can I do the same kind of thing with the bimmercode app and a bluetooth dongle? Is that simpler to use for basic changes - what are the various limitations vs the esys software?

Yes Bimmercode is much quicker and easier, it's all I use now.

You can't actually do VO coding with it but you can find all the individual parameters for coding EBT via FDL coding in bimmercode's expert mode.

thanks. Is there a (relatively) simple summary somewhere of what it can/can't do?

I didn't spec wifi hotspot or extended bluetooth so I'm probably limited it what I can do. Honestly don't know why those are options - BMW should just have a standard I/O hub in all cars then they can sell all the related options through their connected store. Too bitty right now (has been for years)

Just got my VIN Decoded and was expecting 6NH to be able to FA to 6NS But have got 6NHA is this just a straight FA to 6NS or should it be treated differently?

Many thanks in advance guys

6NH, 6NHA, and S6NHA = Same thing. in FA, it will be 6NH, and you change it to 6NS.

I have no idea. I never retrofit screen in an F30 before.

I successfully coded EBT yesterday following Shawns guide, thanks a lot!

Now I have a working USB under the arm rest is there any way that the hu_champ will play video or is this something it can’t do regardless of the coding?

No Video is not possible with CHAMP2 Head Unit.

On your car probably just the ability to have two phones conned this for calls simultaneously. On my old car when I originally did this it added the bluetooth music streaming as 2014 cars with business nav didn’t come with it!

Had this successfully coded and I have one phone (Older Android on Marshmallow) successfully connect and have all of the emails accessible under Office, but another phone (another Android; Samsung S8 on Oreo) paired and can only see texts. When I go into options within Office, the older Android gives me the option to select my email accounts, but the Samsung S8 does not (only texts can be checked off).

This is almost certainly phone specific, but does anyone know what needs to be done within the phone to have the emails available? I didn't do anything special with the older Android device; it just paired, asked me for permission to access messages and it worked. Same process for the S8 and there are no emails

Did you end up buying this screen in the end?

Can someone link to a reasonably priced dongle that I could have a go at coding with via Bimmercode please? Bit of a minefield with the amount available online.

I followed the link and purchased the Android V Gate Pro adapter that was detailed on their website.

Definitely get a BT one, means you don’t have to connect to the wifi, and not have internet whilst coding.

Remember when coding whether you are using a tablet or phone to make sure that you are in airplane mode that way you will not receive notifications during coding which can really upset the App
