Catch can on SULEV
Any of y’all running an oil catch can? Read the forums on pros/cons but curious if the SULEV warranty became an issue after adding this mod.
Insight from fellow California’s would be especially helpful. |

I installed one on mine, but haven't had to use the SULEV warranty (I believe it applies in CT too). I figured if necessary I could uninstall it relatively easily.
I cleaned it < 10K miles after install and it was much dirtier than expected. It clearly works. Only negative is the car had ~ 45K miles before I installed it. |

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The supplied hoses are junk, I used 1/2" stainless steel braided fuel line. You have to pull the original PCV hose, cut it in the middle, then splice the fuel line in with reducers and connectors. Plastic reducers/connectors are OK as it's not a high heat situation. Looks like this: |

I originally used rubber hose, but it kinked after a while. The SS braided fuel line doesn't kink. The kits come with nice hoses, but they're not $200 nice. They also mount the can further back in the engine compartment, where it's hotter. That's a no drill alternative, but drilling a couple of holes to mount the can where I did isn't difficult.
