Boot floor support?

When you lift up the boot floor should there not be a support to keep it raised? I have seen pictures of them in the manual but don't know where it is kept

It's kept permanently in place under the floor, it deploys automatically when the floor is lifted.

Probably because it's a 320. I doubt your's came with a sunroof, hi-fi and AWD standard either. You can't get one in the US without that, and I suspect much more, that doesn't come standard in Europe and elsewhere. For that matter you can't even get the 320 trim in the US.

Why don't you do 320d in the US?

Diesel isn't popular here. Gas down the street from me today was at $2.27 USD per gallon, or 43 BP per liter. The GT doesn't do high sales numbers here, so there's no 320i, and the 328/330 and 335/340 come fairly well equipped.

We do however do the sedan 320i (not diesel) - which is basically a Jetta. I always feel a little sad when I see one.

Perhaps you only get that with the Extended Storage pack (which I have on my 2015 335d GT) - it's a single gas strut mounted in the middle under the floor. Should be easy enough to retrofit if you keep banging your head!

Exactly this ^^^
It is part of the Extended Storage option.

Old post but anyone found if possible to retrofit CARGO PANEL GAS STRUT? Shut itself available easily. Can anyone suggest please if the strut attaches to body of the car as in its standard moulded ander the trim and can be added some how.

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8980

If possible can someone take pictures if the bottom mount and top attachment of strut please. I just seen my friend car 330i with no Storage compartment package and also has no strut. Cheers,

Bought 150n/15kg gas hydraulic strut fairly cheap with brackets that i need to fit fairly cheap about £2/$2.50

See how it goes. But would be nice if someone can take pics of top and bottom fitting on your car and maybe length of strut.

Looked into this a while ago, unfortunately it looks as though the top bracket isn't sold separately to the boot floor lid.

You'd have to buy brand new or second hand to get one. Even a used one I imagine will be quite expensive for what you're getting.

The one i bought comes with brackets that can be screwed to top lid and bottom.
This is not my image but of another buyer:

Sorry for long delays but finally all done. Reason it took ages is i was waiting for correct 150N strut as previously ordered 60N which wasnt enough to lift the floor.

Here is the video of finished project took me about 10 min to install. Most of the time ware errors on bracket location.

For me 150N (15kg) i think is a little to strong. I really wanted to see US version where and how the strut is installed but as no one posted any images i went with center position. Ideally id prefer to get in region of 10-12N

I made a few extra holes during installation eg trial and error even tho you can't see them they are tiny. So if anyone wants to do this DIY in UK or versions where this does not come as standard i can add dimensions as to where i drilled holes.

It’s too bad they didn’t have this on US f31, as it would actually be useful.
